Writer Sujatha's death
by RAMAMOORTHY SESHADRI on Feb 28, 2008 03:30 PM  Permalink

Great writer who had brought vivid picture of Srirangam to many readers which made many of us to visit and visit the holy place. Through Simple tamil language he took the Tamilians to great height in the field of Science, Electronics and his novels were in demand and when we were in colleges, we used to run to the shop to grab Anantha Vikatan to read his novels.
Present day children miss his writings- who were mad after Harry Potters. Great loss of good and knowleable educated personality.

Sujatha - A versatile personality
by parthasarathy sarathy on Feb 28, 2008 03:29 PM  Permalink

Sujatha was the doyen of Tamil readers in the post - independence era. No one else did and could, compress nano technology, vital statistics of Britney Spears, Ramanujan's mock theta functions and a verse from ancient Tamil literature in three short pages so lucidly in Tamil as did Sujatha. His range of subjects, the racy style of Tamil that he wrote and the flair with which his pieces were written made each one a masterpiece. His collection of stories "Srirangathu Devadhaigal" is a tribute to his keen observation powers and making superb copy out of them. Modern Tamil writing, either of the flippant or of the intellectual variety, will never again be the same without this great man called Sujatha who strode the Tamil Literary world like a colossus that he truly was. May his soul rest in peace.

I still remember my teen age when I purchased his book "Ean, Edhurkku, Eppadi", a scientific Questions and Answer books which has given me answers to my lot of questions. It was a very inspirational scientific collection that I ever read in Tamil. Really a great guy he was!!!

No he was not schoolmate of APJ, but his collegemate in MIT, Chrompet, Chennai.

The best Tamil writer of this generation. It will take eras before we have someone like him in Tamil industry.

Great loss to Tamil World particularly to Shankar and Rajanikanth as their Robo will not be so impressive without SUJATHA. Will miss him for ever.

absolute genius!
by Swami Nathan on Feb 28, 2008 03:22 PM  Permalink

An absolute genius of our time with tremendous grasp on any subject to any level of depths..I just remember his visit to our college festival once and giving a pep talk on highly technical and intricate subjects on IT leaving us dumb found. To our horror he was quick to sense it and asked how many us had come there to really eat / drink. May his soul rest in peace.
