Unfortunately we hear about such unique people only at the time of their demise. Otherwise the news is filled with who is wearing what and who is very sexy and who ditched whom and who abused who. I salute and am very proud of such a great person Sujatha. Now I am going to read all his stories. Rediff should give news about such wonderful people often so that others are inspired. I am sure there are many talented great achievers(not just making money) who have done impossible tasks.
1) Sujatha completed his Bachelors degree in Physics at St Joseph College in Trichy. 2) He was a classmate of Dr Abdul Kalam 3) He did his Masters in Electronics at MIT(Madras Institute of Technology) not IIT. 4) He short stories in Tamil were lifts from popular English Novels but unlike others he gave credit to the authors from whom he has lifted the theme and story lines.
I would say he translated the works of Eminent English Novelists to the reach of local tamils
5)Kamal hassan Introducted Sujatha in to Movies as a scriptwriter in his home production block buster Vikram. Sujata later confessed he was bit amateur at the time(1985-86) but never looked back after that writing screen plays for loads of movies.
He is also one of the brains behind Robot(Kamal's interpretation of Arttificical Intelligence), Marudhanayagam and numerous Manirathnam and Shankar movies.
4) By the time Electronic Voting machies came in to picture he was already retired and completely in to public life.
But he was the one who propose the concepts and prototypes regarding EVM's but he wasn't the designer as such.
But he was involved in several innovative projects at Bharath Electronics
RE:Northie idiots and Rediff should get their facts correct: false news about Sujatha

5) Also his question/answer sessions in "Kaniyaazhi" was insightful, compared to the generic stuff he did t at Kumdam and AK magazines although the standards he kept was reasonable.

you r correct.. If u didnot know him why are u in this page.. there are many other news abt difernt subjects keep reading them...
I never believed that Rediff copies message from leading journal's website. This news has been stolen from TimeOfIndia. They even dont verify whether the news is correct or not. Sujatha graduated from MIT not from IIT

Why do you think it as copied. Any news comes through news agencies only. ie. PTI,UNI,AFP,AP etc. If the same news goes to TI,EXpress,Hindu are any journal means. If it reflects same content mean you consider it as copied? News content will be same but the presentation and language is matters.
I sincerely pray for the eternal peace of "Sujatha's soul" and the for the Lord's blessing of his bereaved family. He was a gem of creative Tamil writer. I can't forget his short story "Nylon Kayiru" which I read during my school days.He brought a new flavor to Tamil literature.
Who can miss out the famous Ganesh/Vasanth Characters. He has mastered the art of explaining complex stuff very easily. I still remember his column which came in '95 when he said everyone can be contacted via a small phone which can fit in everyone's pockets. He is not only a technocrat but also a visionary.
Of late, his quality of dialogues written for Boys and Sivaji is abysmal. Dialogues have over tones of stupidity. He is a great writer and why did he choose to such levels during last years is some thing I dont know.
Anyway, only when a tree is fallen can you take a measure of it, same is with men - Anne Murroughs
