Follow up: Thanks Rediff...for hearing my views The following was the message i posted to rediff prior to this forum being opened for paying tribute to Sujatha
Rediff..one of the greatest fiction writers, tech wiz of India, writer sujatha is dead. He is the mastermind behind the Electronic Voting machine. Has contributed numerous novels, editorials, short stories, scientific articles to us. Dont even have the courtesy to pay tributes to him. Rediff is always partial to south indian cinema. You never had the courtesy to wish Kamal on his Birthday.
It was becasue of Sujatha's writing (Geno and Meendum Geno) in 1980's that i developed interest in science and started understanding the technology innovations possible(i was 12 years or so). From then on, Sujatha's writing has been an inspiration on different walks of life. I also recall once he quit from kumudham( or refused to work for kumudham) becasue they published some non-sense or 3rd rate articles and Sujatha never believed in cheap writing but quality ones that makes us think positively.
Its sad that we lost him and i could not imagine of anyone better than him to work on Robot-movie with Shankar.
Hearty condolense to his family. Will surely miss you Sir. great person. As been said by everyone, he did make computers and science bit easy to understand to non intellectual readers too.
Sujatha graduated in the 1954 class with a B.Sc in Physics (1952-54) and masters degree in Electronics from the Madras Institute of Technology. His writing interests were largely inspired by the short stories and serials published in popular Tamil magazines.
I Arun Arangil a former resident of BEL Colony express my heart felt Condolence to MR.Ranagarajan family and especially to his son Mr.Keshav who was my classmate.
We are at loss of good human being, technocart and good writer.

He could have lived for somemore time..thats the feeling you get now. Couldnt accept the fact that he is no more. I can atleast talk for myself, he plays a major part in my life. He was my inspiration and for me he is everything. I just met him once, when we were translating the english texts in linux desktop gui to tamil. I cant forget those few words I spoke to him that day. He presented books to all the volunteers who took time to translate the english texts to tamil. its a great personal loss for me. Not to mention about tamil literature. No one can replace him, just like no one can replace Bharathi. I even stopped reading vikatan once Katrathum petrathum was over. I will always treasure the email he had sent as reply to me for my birthday wishes.
I dont know whether its discussed in this forum earlier. Sujatha is a MIT(madras institute of technology) Graduate. Its quoted here as IIT. He was class mate of our ex-president Kalam at St Joseph's, Trichy. Legendary writer.. He can think and articulate facts tat are unimaginable to a normal man. His interesting and simple way of educating poor's and illiterates about science and technology is commended.
