by Gautam Sinha on Mar 07, 2008 08:47 AM  Permalink

Well its all entertainment and they anyway I hope that they write that work is fiction disclaimer. In the end its all about money.
Luckily India does not have an established porn film industry otherwise I wonder what the "historical" movies would be like. ha ha ha...

akbar wasn't great at all
by Arjun on Mar 03, 2008 12:29 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Friends,
please these are not my hate words.

The true history of India between 11 to 17 th century is not told in our school history books.
We all blame British but the period before british was equally horrific. Sultans and Moguls killed countless hindus, raped hindu women and took them to middle-east as sex slaves. 30 percent of today's arab, iran and turky population comes from slave hindu women. Gold, jewels from kings and temples was looted and taken away to middle east (turkey, iran, syria and saudi-arabia).

Our over idealistic leaders after 1947 suppressed our this history. We Indians do not know our history well.

Akbar was uneducated and addicted to wine. He had more than 5000 wives. He has lots of blood on his hands when it comes to treating hindu people who didn't accept islam.

Taj Mahal was a Shiv temple called TEJO-Mandir. The original Shiva linga is buried under the entrance step number 5.

And this does not mean today we must hate muslims because what happened in past.

But we must know and understand our history as it really was.

Seriously visit Agra , not for Taj Mahal but for the mental asylum. And please do not send me the link to some website which shows some obscure historian gazing inside the basement of Taj Mahal and claim that he saw Shiva motifs etc.

when the movies lie
by rajesh bhandu sen on Feb 21, 2008 11:07 AM  Permalink

Yes, Bollywood movies always lie. Take Leela Bhansali's Devadas, Gulzars' Meera or even Shekar Kapoor's Bandit Queen. I wonder why there is then protest for Jodha alone. Vaijayanthi Mala's Amrapali and Sharukh's Ashoka did not represent true facts either. Did anybody protest Leela's Devadas, Santhosh's Ashoka or Gulzar's Meera!

What is the fact?
by Libran on Feb 21, 2008 09:26 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

How do you say what say 'Fact' is right? There will always be versions of story, many times completely contradictory. However, you caould have quoted at least a book that tells your version of the story.
I am sure, in the case of Porus, European historians who did not want to show that their side got defeated in India, created the story of Alexander deciding to go back.
It is quite possible that their defeat was largely because they were tired. (In my opinion, even if Alexander was really defeated in that war, he still has to be considered great because it is hard to imagine how people can come from so far places like Greece could come here and challenge us. No Indian king had achieved what Alexander had achieved

Libran, there is no greatness in conquest by force. As an Indian you should know that. Indians never needed to invade anywhere else because our country provided both material and physical growth. Invaders looted everytime but came again and found more wealth that speaks for itself. And India always welcomed true seekers. Maybe you should start thinking on lines as to why history brainwashes us in childhood calling conquerers as great.

In addendum, I forgot to mention spiritual growth and remember Buddhism has more followers outside India. That is "conquest" of a different sort.
