Jaya Bachan' cotroversial clip
by Rajeshwar on Sep 08, 2008 10:57 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Her remarks were unintended. I don't think she had any designs to hurt anybody. Yet being a public figure there is no harm in her apologizing for what she did not mean, but said. She will raise her image with the common Marathi if she apologises. This will also prove there was no politics in her mind.

Language
by Ravi Ravi on Sep 08, 2008 10:54 PM  Permalink

i would like to say that a language is for comunicating with each other . As long as the person speaking (who want to comunicate his / her messgae) is clear in his or her words in a way it makes the said words understandable to the other person / person's ina understandable way! it olds good. It is the person's like those useless Raj T etc, who want to make issue out of petty things to run their business by fooling around and there by wasting the energy and worth while time and (at the ost of the public money and at the cost of innocent life's) cost of the genearl and geniune tax paying public and at the cost of the nation, do florish in there business. for all knowledgeble individuals have to dump these people like a tissue paper used in a toilet. Please dont waste your cyber space for all these nonsence and nusense issues.

comment on her statement
by Jyotiraditya Rao on Sep 08, 2008 10:44 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Being a public figure she is wrong in issuing such statement irrespective of situation. This do indicate her biased attitude towards people of particular linguistic group. Though Hindi is national language, Marathi must also be respected as it happens to be the language Maharshtra. Having built her career in Maharashtra she must have respect to the people's sentiment and her Karmabhoomi. Therefore I strongly condemn such irresponsible behaviour of Mrs. Bachhan.

Jaya should have been careful while talking
by mallaiah anchoori on Sep 08, 2008 10:36 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Rediff should verify the facts at least before they are formally relayed on internet.Hindi is only an official language AND not the national language as depicted by it.How can rediff afford to be oblivious to such simple facts? Presenting only facts-so much so in case of such basic things is the minimum expected of any good journalism the need for which one is not to explain to rediff.
Coming to the subject, there is nothing wrong in ones speaking Hindi at a place where it is widely spoken & understood. And Bombay is a place where it is spoken & understood by many people-may be in a typical Mumbai style of"aatha hai, khaatha hai, peetha hai"-same present continuous tense for expression of all three times.Absolutely,Jaya has no business to say that since she hails from UP,she wants to speak in Hindi as if her native state is UP while factually it is West Bengal;it certainly woke up dormant linguistic sentiments of Marathi people when she pin pointedly asked excuse from them;it just tantamount to raking up their antagonism for other state people already being fueled by leaders like Raj Thackery.Jay should have been circumspect to the burning situation in Mumbai triggered already by Siva Sena leaders who feel skeptic about her husbands being more loyal to his home state than to the one which gave him a life as super star.At least people who are in public life should desist making statement by impulse without bothering for the repurcussions. And Jaya is not a small kid to be told this

Dude,
If that wut you think then lets take a poll, no. of people speaking Hindi and other languages. Majority wins. If thats the way Govt of India and State govts are selected why not the national Languegae, Monument, Fruit, Flower, Vegetable, Herb, Cousine, Restaurant, Celebrity, Blah blah ... and then ppl like you be in peace n merry all the way !!!

Cheers..
Indian.

hey it is not me saying that Hindi is our national language - it is official already..no need to take a poll the govt has already declared it. Most schools have hindi as a compulsory subject because it is our national language..I am not a hindi speaking person but i know it because though i never studied in india i was in an indian school and hindi was compulsory...So i know this as a fact already..was just letting u know

Slam Raj Thakrey
by vivek mishra on Sep 08, 2008 10:33 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Raj Thakrey may not have travelled to other indian states that is why he is such a narrow minded person. He dont know the meaning of national integration.
What is wrong if Jaya Bacchan is apologising also. Thakrey just need a political issue to come into limelight.
