- The Congress attracted maximum applicants per constituency - there are virtual stampede of applicants. The JD(S) the least. - The Congress still attracts maximum defections. The JD(S) none at all. In fact, it looks that the sheep is deserting the JD(S) lock stock and barrel.
In 2004 Lok Sabha elections the BJP won more than half the seats but could not repeat the same performance for the Assembly elections. Among reasons was that in the Lok Sabha, the stature of Vajpayee came into play and not the likes of local politicians.
On basis of these pointers, the Congress seems favorites to win the elections especially with the base of the JD(S) disintegrating. The return of SM Krishna consildates the Vokkaliga vote bank behind Congress.
There is high possibility of non-Lingayata communities adopting tactical voting agaties against the BJP. These include Vokkaligas, Muslims and other religious minorities, linguistic minorities, particularly Tamils, SCs and STs
A word of caution. These pointers however remain pointers - maybe unreliable as opinion and exit polls. It could be misleading as there is over a month to voting day. A single event can change electors mood.

you cannot differentiate between a Srilankan national and a tamilian. Every State has their own fenatics like u. If a Sardarji killed former PM Indira Gandhi, will u blame all Punjabis? The news is that the forest brigand bribed most of the officials of Karnataka than of Tamil Nadu. When Karnataka was not able to catch him and expressed helplessness, it was Tamil Nadu police who nabbed and killed him. U are talking of Nedumaran. How less is Vattal Nagaraj or for that purpose Yediurappa. I don't say there are sins only in Karnataka. Every state- look at Andhra - Naxalite manace is the worst there. look at Bihar, Orissa everywhere fanatism is there. don't waste discussion forum for dirtly talk. Don't think that slums are not there in Bangalore.
