cheap regionalism
by vivek mital on Apr 09, 2008 01:19 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

How's this?

" lata mangeshkar should never uttar a single word in marathi as whatever is she, that's due to hindi ony, never should she say that her mother tongue is marathi, otherwise it will be against her loyalty of Hindi...also what she has done for Hindi language which has given her everything"

I know any one (including me) will not like above statement, so think, raj thackeray is attacking on amitabh like this only, nothing different

How's this? You posted the same thing at 10:57 AM below.

Since none responded to it, you are posting it again @ 01:19 PM.

That's how it is. Which means, no one wants to respond to your post.

By the way, I am responding to you. Not to your post.

He said "Father Figure" you nincompoop!!!

You fail to comprehend the difference between a "Father" and a "Father Figure"... And comparing the beards between the two. I too sport a moustache and a beard. I think all MEN do. What about you?

by Cricket Lover on Apr 09, 2008 10:34 AM  Permalink

Mr.Bachchan is right in whatever he says and does.No one can ask him what he has done for the state who gave him fame and name because he is an NRI.The status he claimed for getting tax benefits. How can you expect anything from a person who is Non Resident Indian.

Agree with Amitabh
by myvoice on Apr 09, 2008 10:10 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Yes.Words spoken by Amitabhji is 100% true. It's all Raj's strategy to land in to fameland. For Raj, the only way to get popular is to drag some one like Amitabhji in to this muddle and enjoy the benefit. Has he not been thought about our history. India is known for its unity in diversity. It's high time some one gift him 6th standard history book.

Well said. Political mileage is the only agenda. Its a free country and as long as you do not create trouble for others and respect the state/region, its fine.

what do u mean by they prefer hindi and oppose marathi. as u should know that HINDI is our national language not marathi. This is the only reason india can not progress because we r too busy to criticise our own people. We r maharashtrian, north indian, gujarati first and then if anything is left then INDIANS

Your words show what a narrow minded person you are who is not fit to be called an Indian. People like you are the ones who insigate communal harmony and are racist to minorities. What about people's rights to practise whatever language and live wherever they chose? If you have to impose on these rights, then you might as well live in a communist nation.

People like Bal Thackeray and Raj Thackeray are two faced hypocrites who look out only for themselves and have brain washed all these alledged people who claim to follow in the "Marathi way". If they are so for the Marathi people, y are they sending their own children abroad and to English schools like Bombay Scottish? Look at the bigger picture and dont enclose your mind in a box. Think about the Nation as a whole otherwise we will partition India ourselves by our attitude towards our fellow Indians..

Long Live India!

Dear Patrick,

Sure, you can speak whatever language you want, and practise any faith or religion. All that I am saying is that for the growth, and, at times the very survival, of a specific group, some steps have to be taken.

Please remember that India is a unique mix of several languages, cultures and religions, and each group has to be allowed to flourish. That's where the "unity in diversity" comes up. In fact, I am advocating that diversity, which is something an autocratic regime will always oppose, whether communist or Hindi-belt-North-Indian. Please think about what I am saying.

I do not think you can call the Thackerays hypocrites, except in that the very Marathi cause which they grew on has been now abandoned by (some of) them. In fact, I can assure you that there is a Marathi way, same as there is a Bengali way, or a Tamil way, or a Goan way. It is good to support such ways.

A language defines a group. Look at the French, and the Germans. They insist on their languages, and that does not make them any less "broad-minded". In fact, there's no point ignoring your ailing mother (tongue) and go serve others'.

To that extent, I agree with you about English-medium schools. But, alternate is not to switch to Hindi-medium ones, is what I am saying. And, please see that I am advocating English for two reasons. First, it brings FAIRNESS; no (Indian) language group has an upper hand. Secondly, it is the language in which world's knowledge is available.
