Who should play the characters of Abdulla and Prabhakar?
by G on Apr 04, 2008 08:10 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

How about Rajpal Yadav for Prabhakar? I think he would fit the profile well. What about Abdulla?

Dont call this a BOOK in the first place
by red chillies on Apr 03, 2008 05:52 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Dont call these stuff a BOOK please.......these are just pieces of collected stampedes lying all around ....even the Cover-Makers these days call themselves Literary Ornaments!

A Criminal's chronicle....not to be impressed...very ordinary stuff.

Yes indeed!!!And who are you to comment? What is yr pedigree?LIneage?Wht makes u think one shd heed yr ever pessimistic comments?None of yr comments till date on ANY TOPIC is ever on a positive or good note.
Why dont u try and write or do something EXTRAORDINARY and then come and comment on something abt which u obviously have no idea.

One doesn't need to have any pedigree or do something extraordinary to air his/her views! Red didn't like the book, it's his/her opinion.

By the way, I loved the book and his interesting tales of his journey in India and Afganistan.

Criminal or a Saint
by venkat hs on Apr 03, 2008 04:53 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Actually both. red chillies and cannibaliz are both right. So, that makes the book an amazing reading and then people shud be given a chance to changes...to reform themselves...so a criminal alright but did the redemption in the later part...served his sentence and came out with the book...that's the thing to be appreciated...coz most might remain in the rut, not having the courage to come out

In the book, he has repeatedly expressed his remorse. And he completed his sentence. So that's cool.

Also the book is amazing !

The book is an international bestseller, and the movie is a Hollywood production.

Get your facts right, Gobar brain.

Red Chillies...I have read your responses to a few topics ...Scarlett case, now Shantaram....you are quite a critical charatcer, arent you?xx A literary piece should be judged based on the quality of story and the writing and not based on the character of the author. What does the author's character have to do with whether a book is an exciting read or not...seperate the two.

Well, that's exactly my point and the point a whole lot of other people are making besides offcourse over a million readers ... they like the book, they think it a "good thing".

Incidentally, have you read the book or is that you have just read about the book and the author?

DUH
by Canniballz on Apr 03, 2008 04:42 PM  Permalink

Of course he's playing the central role !
The dance number probably would be fitted in one of the slum celebration scenes, or when he does a cameo in a Bollywood movie.
Read the book and you shall not ask stupid questions.
