Rediff, please remove Raja for film review. Raja hatao Rediff bachao. How could he be so biased. This same guy gave OSO 3.5 and this movie 1.0. If he talks about logic did he find them in OSO. So funny.

Sorry to say all of you including Rekha and Mr. Raja, but this time I am totally not agree with you guys opinion..I am not here to fight with you guys, but purely from my point of view, it was a good stuff or if I say at least deserve a reasonable rating of at least 2.5 if I say. Everyone acted well, nothing was that bad to being so critic about it. And moreover, John and Bibs showed their ongoing wonderful chemistry back in this film. All i wanna say that this time, it was absolutely not closely observed or otherwise I should say Sorry Mr. Raja, but not a Good Job!! It wasn't that bad. In fact, I quite liked it. Otherwise, if you take a general point of view, I am sure that you will not get that negative review. It's not about stars or anything personal, your job is just to rate the movie by watching them correctly, coz you review really does matters to the readers. I always used to almost satisfied with rediff's rating, but this time I am really not feeling okay for such a harsh rating by you Mr. Raja and Ms. Rekha Menon, where did you find OSO logical..it was totally filmy nothing really looked original or logical; in fact, I felt like watching a permier of any film while watching OSO..so really you guys are seems to be going on the big banners as well as in a line of crowd not observing the movies...A very big SORRY for your review Mr. RAJA...MY RATING FOR THIS MOVIE IS 3. Thank you everyone.

Rajeev Masand gives GOAL 1 star as well!!!
by Rekha Menon on Nov 24, 2007 01:43 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

I often find people in this forum saying that if one needs to find sensible and easily understandable reviews, they should check out Rajeev masand of CNN IBN.

Rajeev Masand, I must say, writes sensible reviews as well, although his writing style is different. I would stll rate Raja sen as having better command over his English.

Anyways coming back to reviews, now that Rajeev Masand has given GOAL 1 star as well, will all the hate messages on this forum stop ????

LOGIC?
by test on Nov 24, 2007 01:37 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

MR SEN you was questioning the logic of this movie and based on this you have given one star to this movie.

May I ask you waht did you find logical in OSO?

Had srk been the lead man in this movie you would have increased the no of stars for this movie

Indian movies never make any logic and will always be hyped

Most of the Indians dont have the abality to understand a good movie and in this country people like SRK will alawys be on top and talented people like shekhar kapoor will leave India and live abroad and contribute to west

OSO is a spoof - right from the begining you have to understand that the movie is making fun of everything. And once the viewer has got into that frame of mind, then you just go along with the second half reincarnation bit. Both SRK and Farah Khan didn't make any bones about the fact that they're making a fun movie with no pretensions to intellectualism or preaching. And as such, OSO is definitely watchable.

Dhoom 2 - a terrible movie in my eyes, was the same. All style and songs - no storyline.

GOAL is supposedly a 'serious' movie with a 'serious' message. But if the basic premise around the racism bit is ridiculous and illogical, then watching such a movie becomes intolerable.

Why Shekhar Kapoor has left India isn't becos is a different stor

YEAH RITE,CHAK DE WAS A SERIOUS MOVIE??

WHEN ON EARTH DID INDIAN HOCKEY TEAM WIN WORLD CUP?

THE PLOT WAS FAKE FROM THE START. INDIAN MOVIES ARE TRASH AND MAKE NO SENSE

WHEN DID WOMENS TEAM EVER PLAY WITH MENS TEAM AND THEY GAVE THEM A TOUGH FIGHT????

WHY ON EARTH WILL SELECTORS NOT SEND THE MENS TEAM AND SEND WOMENS TEAM INSTEAD???

DO SELECTORS HAVE TIME TO WATCH A MEN AND WOMENS MATCH???

No, you will not be allowed to have the last word, partly because it's wrong, and partly because it's silly.

So, yeah, sorry, try harder.

When something illogical is created with a tongue-in-cheek approach that says "Hey, look this is illogical" - then the entire work acquires logic, as is the case in OSO. But when there is sincerity in the illogical then it remains illogical, because the sincerity says "Look this is logical", whereas it, in reality, isn't. So the whole product is therefore, illogical.
That is the difference.

amazed
by Rekha Menon on Nov 24, 2007 01:37 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

The extent of hate on these message boards against rediff reviewers is truly amazing - earlier when Sukanya Verma used to write reviews, she used to get the same treatment as being meted out to Raja. And I really wonder why.

- Is it that people just don't understand the reviewer's English and are annoyed by that?
- Is it that people cannot stand anyone saying the truth about hindi movies - that most of them are badly made, have no storyline, bad acting, dialogues etc. ?

I mostly find the rediff reviews extremely accurate. Fortunately I understand the English as well, so I really look forward to reading the well written reviews by Raja Sen.

there is a certain thrill people seem to experience by disagreeing. A sense of oneupmanship. It is quite disturbing, and is, if you think about it, unique to only a few cultures, like ours. Don't mean to sound silly by taking this to a larger social context, but you'll always come across far more criticism than consent. And any consent you do come across will be so meek that it won't stand a chance against the sheer vehemence of the phoo-phooing.

So, as a salute to vehemence, and perhaps the harbinger of positive responses - RAJA SEN IS RIGHT!!!! (Ahem, most of the time).

boring
by Rekha Menon on Nov 24, 2007 01:29 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

I have not seen GOAL and neither do I intend to. I believe that the reviewer has written sense. Two things are important for a movie, acting and plot. Both seem highly suspect. The plot of a movie like Fanaa was weak, but the acting fantastic. In a movie like Ek Pal, the acting was okay, but the plot (copied from Western movies) fantastic.

In Goal, acting wise, the only person I rate highly is Arshad Warsi and he isn't even the leading man. John Abraham looks great, but cannot act. I didn't even like his acting in the much acclaimed 'Water'. Same goes for Bipasha, tho I think she acts better than John.

That leaves the plot. The story seems terrible, abso uninspirational, unlike CHAK DE (which was fanstastic) I live in the UK. Some amount of racism exists in the UK (less than in India tho), but in sports there are people of all colors.

Without plot or acting, the only reason to go to wactch the movie would be to see John or Bipasha ---- model.

What i am amazed

ya. they can't stand positive reviews either...see the Om Shanti Om board. Clearly, they can't stand anything. They just have to trash everything...coz as they say "Public sab janati hai". Interestingly, it's only the "Public" that says this.

Oh, the pain.

Give Raja Sen a break...he actually writes good reviews.
by Maninder Singh on Nov 24, 2007 01:25 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Independent of (not excluding) this film, Raja Sen is one of the best reviewers of the country. Barring his views on KANK, he displays a keen intelligence in his film analysis and a strong control of the language. Mr. Sen, please realize (you probably already do), that given the fact that India has 1.2 billion people, there will always be at least 0.6 billion who will disagree with no matter what you say. So say what you want to, coz it maketh the senseth!

Guys, don't you have anything better to do in life than writing your thoughts on reviews. These guys are paid and I believe Raja Sen is highest paid to writea good or bad review. I can also imagine SRK may have paid him to give one star to keep going his movie.

Its simple logic - there are hardly any movies these days on which you can think. If you have spare time or want to kill time or just want to refresh just pick any movie and watch it. Try to watch it free if you can as it is worthless to spend a single penny on bollywood. After watching forget it. U r refreshed now, go make some money by using ur refreshed mind. Spend it on ur kids and family and give them a better life.

I'm one of those unfortunate few who understands Mr. Sen's high funda english perfectly. Its lots of impressive words....his message, unfortunately, still comes across as pathetic....that makes him unimportant. Enough said on Mr. Sen.
Coming to the movie, Goal, lets face it, every single one of us on this board is going to watch it!!! Thats a goal in Goals corner right there!!!!
Oh yeah, we live in a media that reports SRK as the "sexiest Asian man"...media credibility...whats that???
