Man people should forget the articles and read the messages on rediff !! Absolutely Hilarious !!... To the extent people don't like best reviewer rediff has got !!
The ultimate underdog story...without the Spartan effort at Thermopylae, civilised europe would be speaking persian instead of greek and latin. The movie may have made some historical mistakes on some facts, but the truth still remains that the Spartan warriors have done what no other group of soldiers will ever be able to. Watch it for its own sake, and not with a critic's perspective.
its a great movie,the action,the dialogues all was awsome,it deserved the claps it was getting while it was running.go 4 d dvd after it releases in the dvd market.
The problem with 300 is precisely what u've brought out...in the end nobody empathizes with the characters - it's all visually stunning, and may i add, only! The trailer was awesome (i m one of the innumerable fans of the film b'cos of the trailer - watch it if u haven't), the movie isn't. It cud have been the gr8est action/war movie of all time (as imdb puts it, at the present rate it may surpass godfather) but, it sadly doesn't pose much to think abt. I'd say TROY was way better than this. But, don't be put-off by these remarks b'cos u may not want to miss out on the grand visual spectacle this movie is! Watch it for the sheer fun of marvelling at the digital scenery - and yes, try to go in an IMAX.

whooaa! not supposed to empathize...c'mon man there were spartans fighting for life 'n honour (even our gud old 'Border' was better in driving home the point and in a way quite similar in storyline) - why shudn't u be made to - there was so much scope for tht.
Secondly, does it really matter whether it was fact or fiction (rem. spiderman 1 - the movie answers my point)
It's a pain to criticize 300 but there's no denying tht the movie cud have been awesome all around. Alas! i've to side with Mr. Sen who 'i agree' generally gives bad reviews.

Actually this is not fiction.
The story of the 300 spartans is real. Leonidas and Stelios etc are real people who defended against the huge Persian invasion. The battle of Thermopylae is also not fiction.

for what it is...2.5 stars are good enough! tell me, didn't u expect much more after watching the trailer - it gave me goosebumps - and i can hardly recall any from the movie itself! visual scenery apart - do you think action sequences were 'amazing', especially when we live in the post-matrix era! may be ur expectations weren't too high - but mine were over the ceiling.

may be you dont get Giant if u are.. ie....... i mean u dont get the production... do u get any spirit of out of the way the movie had that grain coarse effect all over.... as for action sequence the first fight and second one with mortals are great... matrix spoke about flying n fighting this aint same they talk of things that are fictionalized yet possible... darn... dont say that 2.5 rating is good in public....
