A.R.RAHMAN IS CHENNAIITE BY BIRTH. HIS PARENTS ALSO FROM CHENNAI ONLY. THEY ARE ORIGINALLY TAMIL HINDU MUDHALIAARS BEFORE CONVERTING TO ISLAM. HE EMBRACED ISLAM DUE TO SOME ILL FATE AFTER HIS FATHERS DEATH & DUE TO SOME MIRACLES HAPPENED TO HIS FAMILY THROUGH A SUFI SAINT WHEN HIS FAMILY WAS IN POVERTY. FOR CAREER SAKE INITIALLY HIS FATHER WAS DOING MALAYALAM FILMS & ASSISTING TAMIL FILMS TOO. RAHMAN STARTED HIS CAREER BY DOING JINGLES TO AD FILMS IN CHENNAI TILL ROJA (TAMIL MOVIE) GAVE HIM AN INTERNATIONAL BREAK. REGARDS
One thing is for sure, Rajnikanth is basically a Marathi. So a North Indian goes to South and fooling so many people. Even adults like Rajni's kid like stuffs. That is the real proof of the choice os people back in TN. I stayed there quite a some time and seen that how much mad people are there for Rajni. TN folks, wake up, you have better actor there, Kamal Hasan India's highest number of Film fare award winner. He is a versatile actor.
Rajni is total crap. He makes funny and kid movies.

Coming from Maharashtra does not make one a North Indian, stupid!! Tell Thakerey the same thing and he'd bash you up for insulting Maharastrians and Marathi culture. Marathis (read Shiv Sainiks) hate North Indians (calling UPites as Bhaiyyas), or for that matter they hate every Indian who is not a Marathi.

hey sania!!!! Good going. its bcoz of ur kind of ppl that we r still a developing nation. u ought to remember that we r indians only indians.
Rahman is a good music director of the modern era who has given a new direction and style to the bollywood music. Guys, do not compare with anybody else. I don't think other than older music directors(S D Burman, R D Burman, Laxmi-Pyare, Shankar Jaikishan, Naushad, Khaiyyam, Salil Chaudhury, O P Nayyar and many others) none of the modern music directors are legends. They a regood in their own style but only older ones are the legends. I don't know what will be the status of modern songs after say 20-30 years but those oldies will remain goldies.
For the time being, let's not talk foolish and waste time.

Goru, U need to get some facts right, A.R.Rahman is a genius to Indian Film Industry, maybe its to early to call him a LEGEND but then look at him, He is simply outstanding.His music speaks volumes, though at times it sounds repeated but then who else wouldnt do so..whether it RDB OR anyone else..
Please Guys, stop debating for some useless topic, they all wre entertainers, and they are doing their work properly, to reduce our stress, tats it, and y we should waste our time in debating for this small things..lets njoy the time and start thinking about our work. It seems to be iam advicing, but its the reality....
