A landmark film
by AK on Aug 02, 2006 09:10 PM  Permalink

I must say I am still recovering from the Omkara experience although I saw it a few days back. Its brilliant in its originality (inspite of it being an adaptation, its courage (the setting when it could have been a boardroom), its authenticity (of characters, language, music) and its sheer creativity!!

All those who harp about language (the so called family audience) are those who would go and watch, or allow their kids to watch, Quenting Tarantino and his "mother fucker nigger" films happily. We have to grow up as an audience and appreciate art for what it is and not what is absolutely palatable to us. Art is a representation of life and life isnt always a sweet karan Johar flick about "loving your parents".

Why Omkara blew my mind
by Sankar on Aug 02, 2006 08:23 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Mr. Sen,

After having watched Omkara, I would like to say that I will never get back those three hours of my life. Unnecessary bad language apart, the movie failed to inspire me in any way. When the movie ended, there was a collective sigh of relief and collective groans from the audience as to why one would waste their afternoon with such trash. Ajay Devgan may have done a fair job, why you have praise for Kareena's performance is beyond me. Saif Ali Khan was okay playing Iago and it more the role than the acting that made him shine. You can praise it all you want but this aint entertainment !

Raja,Sankara

A briliant reveiw, but the muse was deserving too!

Sankara,

Perhaps you have heard of Oscar Wilde and his famous defining quote: all art is uselss.
The purpose of Art is not to inspire or preach but,Art itself. And Omkara is just that True Art.The sybaritic feeling of pleasure after the movie is a consequence of having revelled in a marvellous peice of Art.

Bravo Vishal!

Ekta
