A nice and honest write up indeed. Unlike the other critics who do nothing but estimate the boxoffice stamina of a movie, you write ur exact feelings about the movie.
This is not just one of the finest movies in recent times but is one of finest films ever in bollywood for me.
if the usuage of foul language and sexual innendos makes a movie a piece of art, one can call "omkara" so. its so difficult to digest anyone killing his wife for mere suspicion (when omkara has an idea that it might be just a story created by lagada)... it might be true in the world where sheakespere lived, not today.
While watching "Omkara" it was difficult even to blink, as you may feel something may pass even if you blink. Kudos to Saif ali khan, Ajay,Dobriyal & Naseer(a short one though)for giving the performance of their life time.Vishal's Omakara will be remembered as the all time classics in Bollywood History in the years to come.
I don't exactly concur with Mr Sen's view everytime and especially after he had ripped apart "Fanaa" because I thought it had Aamir and Kajol. After watching that movie I realized Mr Sen does know his job. Yesterday I saw Omkara and yes it did blow my mind as well. Ok, its not for everyone. Especially people who like to see Aish opening 7 doors or Sunny paaji killing 20 with a handpump. So I guess we should make a deal. Let us watch our type of movie and we won't critisize your's. But Mr Sen you do know your cinema and your job.
i agree with u raja........this is really awesome which i v seen after a long time....people is saying tht language of movie is bad....but i dont think so......as per movie's background ....tht kind of language is required......there is noting worng with tht....if u think tht u cant see tht movie with ur family.....then go with ur friends.....let ur family members go with there friends........But please dont say tht movie is bad.......its a awesome movie.......thanks VISHAL BHARDWAZ.....cheers
It takes courage to march to the beat of a different drummer and I have always admired Raja Sen for his steadfastness when it comes to his convictions. 95% of the Indian movie-going public have no cinematic sensibilities is evident from the fact that "Gadar" is the biggest money-spinner in the history of Indian films and "Fanaa" is the biggest hit of this year.
A word to the morons who sport protuberences above their necks which passes of as a head - Don't worry, start salivating. Your effiminate idol KJo is coming next week with another of his saccharine offerings. Bow to him!!!

Well written Freak. You know what I am scared off, with all the rumours that Omkara is not doing that well and families are not flocking, it might actually put off future producers from producing serious movies. And what we will left off with are Duds like Fanaa and Krrisshhh or whatever crap that we churn out with remarkable regularity.
A befitting tribute to an immensely watchable movie! I admire Vishal Bharadwaj's guts to not bow down to market pressure & make a movie in a dialect that not many people outside north India would understand. While the producers of Munnabhai MBBS were apprehensive that people outside Mumbai might not understand the "Mumbaiya" hindi that's spoken in the movie & might reject the movie, I think Vishal Bharadwaj had a bigger risk at hand - the Indian audiences have been pounded with so many "Mumbaiya" characters over the years that the audience has a decent grasp on the Mumbai dialect. But a dialect from the hinterlands of UP has not been explored widely in Bollywood. What also surprised me - though pleasantly - was Saif Ali Khan's portrayal of Bharadwaj's Iago. I already liked him as an actor but I thought he was best suited to the Hum Tum, Salaam Namaste kind of roles. He's done a brilliant job in Omkara! Not even for a second did I think that another actor might have been able to pull it off better. On the other hand, the less said about Vivek Oberoi the better - I wonder why the guy even bothers to act! I don't think the audiences feels any sympathy for him as an actor at all.
