Hi.. I felt the movie didnt connect emotionally... I am a Bengali and certain references in the movie were jarring... like costumes..bengali women wear sarees...and that too mostly cotton..the jazzy synthetics were appealing to sight but were a discord as far as bengalisms are concerened... also, the jewellery was more fashion than gold..I cant imagine oxidised ear rings in 1960s that too in Calcutta... the climax was definitely over dramatic...unrealistic..wonder why no one came forward to help Saif break down the wall..h had done his bit by initiating the "breaking of the wall"....

Typical bengali pseudo inteelectualism. Try to see Bengal through the eyes of others too. Bengal is not only about shntipuri and Dhakai sarees. The film captures the spirit of Bengal of a bygone golden era and brilliantly portrays it too not only a pan indian audience but an international crowd too.
Parineeta is an extended adfilm. Is Bollyhood decaying? or are Its protogonists forgetting the basic skills of filmmaking? Or are they sold out to the second & third grade Hollyhood films ?
Yeah... Parineets is a classic ..its simply superb.. there is nothing which can be marked negative..A must watch ..movie...full marks to Vidu vinod chopra..
No doubt that Parineeta is the best thing to happen to hindi cinema after a long-long time.
Its just wonderful!
I couldn't find a single person in the crowd who wasn't praiseful of it. Its so beautifully directed that you loose sense of time and are back only when it ends! Its music, lyrics are just too good. Playback is really nice. Its one of a kind that you want to hear on your grandma's gramophone! It takes you back to oldentimes when things weren't jarring and music was soulful!! Any words for a nice performance by Saif and Vidya Balan, would be too less. Where its certainly the BEST performance of Saif till date, Vidya's work has proven that she has a capacity to give a run for the most-sought after actresses of the present times.
If you enjoy sensible cinema, this is a MUST Watch! Do it NOW and don't forget to take your Grandma with you. Parineeta's music will be a feast for her ears also.
PARINEETA was a welcome surprise! The recreation of '60s Calcutta must have been painstaking- I would choose it over the lavish Devdas anyday!!- as are the lovely performances-including the lovely debutant Vidya Balan(is that her real name also??)along with Saif(he continues to surprise us!!!) and almost all the supporting cast. Also, the music is very much in sync with the flow of the story and aids rather than marring the pace. (Saif must have taken piano lessons, wanna bet?!?) The direction is really top-class and you start feeling the bengali touch rightaway. I was halfway thinking in terms of a possible oscar nomination when the overly melodramatic and hackneyed end presented itself. All-in-all a valiant effort that needs to be appreciated-VIVE LA GOOD CINEMA!!!
Sach this is a great film I have ever seen, the direction is very good, acting is simply great. The last of the flim is very veg for me, its like act of cement company advertisement. Please change the sceane and remake it. Open the door of mind and the hero and heroine came closer each other. Subhronil
