It's sad
by Reddy on Sep 02, 2008 09:19 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

It's sad to suspend the project after spending several hundreds of crores. Good luck to TATA as other states are lined up for red carpet welcome. It's shame on WB govt, mamatha and last bengalis.

Operation successful but patient died !!
by SS Kumar on Sep 02, 2008 09:18 PM  Permalink

Mamta can pat herself on the back for not allowing TATAs to get their Nano car plant going in Singur and for forcing them out of WB. She & WB CM can pat themselves on the back for an operation they can call successful but with the patient dead ! Ratan TATA should have taken this decision long time back instead of expecting a miracle. It should be an eye opener for other industrialists wanting to go to WB or Kerala. The people of WB deserve this for not standing up to Mamta for destroying their rare employment opportunities. It also shows the mental bankruptcy of the WB CM in resolving disputes speedily. Obviously, vote banks are more important than adminstering the state effectively.

This will help the Tatas indirectly
by Investor on Sep 02, 2008 09:16 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Tata will benefit from moving out of WB in the long run. Even if mamta would not have done all this, there would have been at least 10-15 strikes every year in WB. If you count all these the loss would have been much more in years to come.

Mind you, most of the Metro people are from village background. It means, metros are encroched upon by Villagers of India. They enjpoy metro culture and that is the reason whhy industry should move to villages rather than concentrate on metros. But not upon agri land.

if you give every thing for benifit of your surrounding, then you do not remain in that surrounding so how do you or your sons and daughter get benifit of that changed surrounding? Why fertile land of Singur? why not the barren land of Bankura, Birbhum, or Purulia

If you start thinking like that, how will the industry develop in this country?
It is the duty of the government to facilitate land for new industries, and Tata has done that only. It is the failure of West Bengal Govt and no need to blame Tatas..

you are absolutely correct. There are vast trac of barren, unfretile land in several other districts of West Bengal, why those lands are not utilised for industrialisation, taking away agricultural land is adding to the global food problem.

I do not agree, Bengal needs industrialisation but correct place to set up the industry has to be found out. In Singur we will get a car at the cost of rice.

Hey Mr. Intellectual, not only you don't need Tata but you need leaders like Mamata and you got it. It is so unfortunate that Bengal which gave so many great leaders to the country is producing leaders like Mamata Banerjee who knows only to oppose any thing that is in the interest of Bengal and Bengalis. Well your choice Bengali Babu. Your Govt. also opposed computerization and see what happened. Other states went ahead and are far better today than what Bengal is. Noe your Govt. is begging with the IT companies to open office in West Benagl. but it is too late.

WB - Cumunist Govt must compensate Tata.
by kaladhara saralaya on Sep 02, 2008 09:14 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Tata is the captain of indian industry since indewpendence. He is the best entrepreneur India had ever since independance. No nonsence man, no politicking, no greed and top of that sincere and simple to the core. He is the world leader too.
Just think of Reliance .. just manipulators of share holders money and making their family rich. The only daughter hs wealth of 80 Billion $!.
The entire problem is created by the Cummi Govt. In the first place they shouldn't have acquired a fertile land for industry. Thed available agri land should not be used for any other purposes other than for cultivating. Industries can go any where but not agri. When our national policy is against aquiring of any agri land by perosns other than agriculturitsts, why WB Govt has aquired agri land (that too fertile land) for ind=ustry.
WB Govt must compensate Tata for this huge loss. Mind you, Tat's money is nothing but share holders money. WB has cheated these share holders. Tata is only a custodian.

Bengal Chaos
by vick oberoi on Sep 02, 2008 09:13 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Its a menace created by Mamta in order to get her vote bank for upcoming election. Her political ambition has cost Bengal much more than what Mamta would have gained.Tata in Singur would have given a new dimensio to that place.Industralisation would have changed Bengal face and the people whose imagination has been captured by Mamta's words would have known how much important is Tata at Singur.I would erge Mamtaji to stop using people at Singur for her political ambition and behave more responsibly and just give a minute as Indian about what Tata means for Singur---

WB doestn't deserved to be uplifted by industrialisation. This Cummunists are experts in creating public unrest. Instant strikes , protests are the face of this Cummis. We have Kerala and WB with Cummi at helnm of affairs. But most mayalayalees have settled elsewhere.
