petrol prise in india
by pravin khatavkar on Dec 17, 2010 12:27 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Petrol prize in india is more than any other country. prize in various countries in indian rupees per liters:
usa - RS 44.25
Russia - Rs 42.25
Pakistan - Rs 444.80
china - Rs 31.30
malaysia - 25.40
venezula - 2.12 (chepest in the world)
Then why it is so high in india ? our govt takes 50% tax per liter on petrol , and we are dependent of gulf countries for crude oil. Our govt trying to do wine and beer from waste food if we make alcohol from this wasted food and add 10 to 20% ethanol in the petrol then prize of petrol will come down and dependancy of our country for crude oil reduces also our nations money will save.

FUEL PRICES IN VARIOUS COUNTRIES
by damodaran mohan on Jun 09, 2008 12:22 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

A pattern can be seen in the fuel prices in various countries:
1.the OIL producing countries, the developed & big ones like U.S., Russia, China etc. whose per capita consumptions are highest in the world have low prices. In fact if one factors in the standard of living in these countries, even these lower prices will work out still cheaper. Obviosly economies of these rich countries are robust enough to absorb the difference.
2.Smaller but muslim countries like Pakistan, Malaysia etc. also have lower prices. These countries must be getting the Crude OIL at lower prices from the OIL producing Islamic nations like Saudi arabia who pass on that burden to non-islamic countries like ours. So, in a way we are partly subsidising not only for the rich but also for countries like Pakistan, Malaysia etc.
It is time for the World and country like India to come out with a long term Energy Policy and reduce our dependance on Crude OIL. There should be international agreement to rationalise OIL prices in direct proportion to consumption and standard of living .

RE:FUEL PRICES IN VARIOUS COUNTRIES
by Rajesh Vallabhaneni on Jul 04, 2008 05:12 PM  Permalink
How would the change come? We all must start rather stop using oil. There was a huge cry when pesticides were found in the cool drinks that we drink everyone made a big cry about the same. When will we understand that if we drink a cola which has a pesticide, it might just kill us but if we use oil in the way that we are using not i am afraid if our children must search for an other planet to live in as the air shall get so polluted and there would too much heat. The only solution to this is to stop using oil. Well we are humans and would not listen if we are told in a normal way, so the only way we will stop using oil is by increasing the cost of fuel. Now tell me WHY DO WE CRY IF FUEL PRICES ARE INCREASED?

Subsidy on diesel
by Kavi RamaMurthy on Jun 04, 2008 02:01 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

There should be dual pricing of diesel; diesel used for public transport should be subsidised but for private cars, diesel and petrol should cost the same. Diesel vehicles pollute badly and there is no reason to encourage them.

I think its fair to see the increase in the fuel price considering the global concerns and taking into considerations 40-50% increase in Crude Oil prices over the last year.

How about banning petrol altogether and forcing every vehicle to be based on Diesel only?

This will give rise to diesel back market instead of solving the problem.

Ban the Nano and SUVs
by Prabhu on Jun 04, 2008 01:58 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Once the Nano enters the Indian market, our already choked roads are going to be further congested with the tiny cars. And what's the point in driving huge SUVs on Indian roads? All they do is consume space and burn more fuel.

Why to ban indian nano car if it more efficient (25km/ltr) and not to ban luxurys car like mercedes, skoda, honda, chevrolet which gives average in the range 5 to 15 km/ltr?

Look at the other side. If Nano can replace 50% of the vehicles on the road, how much fuel can be saved? As the fuel costs go through a change, driving habits will change automatically. Have you heard about Prius? People in US now boost of hitting more than 50 miles per gallon while the govt expects only 27?

Enough of cribbing about petrol prices. Why not compare water prices (forget tap water, take bottled water only!) in the above countries.

Steps to reduce oil consumption
1.regulating use of pvt cars,
2 reduction of Govt expenditure on cars, buses, and dept vehecles.. these govt personnel, whether IAS/IPS, and Ministers etc, are supposed to be public servants, and should set example to public by using public transport., u
3. Reduce taxes, duties on petrol & diesel.,
4. Make IOC, HPCL, Oil India. ONGC, etc to be more efficient, and economic in their administration.
5.These indian companies, have british/american standards of benefits to their employees, w/o having such work ethics.
6.Lastly, Our govt must strive for better terms for trading with Gulf countries., & other oil
exporting countries.
7. We must subsidize like Venezuela, so that our people have access to petrol/diesel at cheaper rates, & for this our Fm/Govt must find ways/ means to compensate oil subsidies, by reduction in Govt expenditure.

Who wants to waste time on public transport? We will need private transport irrespective of the cost. Business depends on fast independent transport. It is a myth that using public transport can solve all our worries. It will pull down the economy as well.

Everything is fine, but if we need to subsidize like Venezuela, you also need to produce oil like they do and export it...

CRUDE OIL PRICES ZOOMING
by damodaran mohan on Jun 03, 2008 01:42 PM  Permalink

The OIL producing countries, specially the Gulf countries are virtually dependent on rest of the countries for all items, right from Drinking water, food items, engineering items etc. So, the rest of the exporting nations to the Gulf region must link the prices of these commodities to OIL prices directly. That is the only way to check any unreasonable zooming of OIL prices in short time.

Worst hypocrisy
by crazyguy on Jun 03, 2008 01:41 PM  Permalink

Keeping diesel prices lower at the cost of adding it in Petrol price is the Worst hypocrisy in India. When you are allowing all costly cars to run by Diesel and giving subsidy to rich people as well as to the travel agencies. Unfortunately there is no media coverage on this issue.
Govt MUST ban running private cars and travel agency cars running by heavily subsidized diesel. Mr.Oil minister if you have the guts please give suitable reason.
