IT companies treat the revenue generators, software engineers like pigs. Even the people in departments like payroll and billing dictate terms to the software engineers. I think we should have unions in IT across the world.

I totally agree. There is a huge lack of respect for the main work doers in the IT industry i.e. Software Engineers. Something needs to be done so that we are given respect and credit.
I appeal to all the IT people, to not to prefer on deputation jobs and client locations. Most of the big clients treats the contract employees like bonded labour.
IT companies treating employees like bonded labour! I work for one of the big IT companies. The management treats the employees like bonded labour. Most of the managers I come across do not possess any managerial skills. But the serior managers prefers such people because they can dictate terms to them.
1. In this day and age talking about Employee Loyalty is redundant. Employees have realised that there is nothing like Corporate or Employer Loyalty. Corporations get sold / merged / acquired - one does not know who will be one's employer tomorrow. There is a saying in Hindi that two hands are required to clap and there is much too much emphasis on employee loyalty without any talk of employer loyalty. 2. It is a misconception that Indian Employees view their company as a family and that companies will take care of their families. Most Indian companies run on the Zamindari principle of Management. Actions are not judged by whether the same is good for the company or not but whether they are good for the Management / Owners.

It is a question of demand and supply my friend. As soon as the demand for employees far out strips the demand for jobs, employees will soon be treated better. We just need to cut down drastically on our population growth to achieve this.
The article says firms should treat employees better and generally HR dept. looks in to such matters.but at HR - it seldom becomes a cosidering dept.with common practice of having transperent schemes. Even in so call professional companies also HR is with more personalism than professionalism. Most of the times HR - is How to Reduce employee expenses dept. than Resourcing it.

I work for one of the big 5 IT co. I don't see any major HR involvement in work after initial recruitment. I think HR dept is not enough empowered in IT industry.
i have seen that most Indian IT companies operate in "all business need no technology need" mode. all they care abt is whether they are satisfying their main center in Us or Europe or their clients in India. They do not really care whether the work done by an employee is good quality work or not. Whether it will be really useful for the company or not. They just care whether the immediate need of the customer has been taken care of or not. This Indian Baniya mindset is there since thousands of years. Only time some real innovation was done in Indian soil was when the Vedas were scripted. But even those were actually caarried from foreign soil by the incoming Aryans. So.....

I suppose you must try to get your facts straight and not approve the British mentality - divide and rule. Aryans did not come from somewhere, we were always here. Aryan invasion theory is completely discredited, even a simple search on google will get you the info.

The Articles and research needs to be respected as many of the Managers looks for thier own benefits and many of the IT companies employees dont know if there is any HR Team exisits. One Fine day when Central staffing asks an employee to do or join some team withour recognising the potential of the candidate. The employee has to look for an other option so that he is on his right skillsets. When employee get the offer then All of sudden from Heaven HR and other team will rush to prevent the loss. The world dont understand why these people dont understand when employees are in hand and are resspected.
It is great article and Appreciate the efforts on this research.
Employees leaves the company not becuase he dont want leave but because of his Manager.
