MBA is no Education at All ....It is just a ragtag accumulation of papers from ECo,ACCO,MEDIA,Jurno. etc. Which is just a WESTERN PEDAGOGY of LUSTY AMASSING through a method called MARKET with no SCIENCE involved but LOOT and CHEAT. In our Country some lusty crooks have started misguiding the Youths in the name of MBA and all get into it just thinking it as the easiest way to mint money without knowing what it is in reality. From HARVARD ,u come here to learn Mumbai Dubbawallah,LALOO-RAILWAY and innumerable such examples are there......we Indians just dont need DUMB DOINGs STUDY by the name of SUCH Idiotic CASE STUDIES...much more better methods are ingrained there in our own culture and system ;we need to learn it more and have faith in it and we have much better economic acumen than those westernized crooks who call themselves Entrepreneurs. MBA is a joke and just not required for Indians. Have u ever seen a Management Executive as Honest and Straightforward? All it teaches is how to lie and cheat the society.

VERY TRUE! ITS ALL HYPE & MARKETING ONLY... HOW U MARKET MBA DEGREE & INSTITUTES EARN FROM IT! NO REAL CONTRIBUTION COMES FRM MBAs..... MANAGEMENT CANT BE TAUGHT .... BUT CAN SECURE ONE A GOOD JOB IN THE NAME OF IT!
As a degree holder from a premier Management inst., I would want to present a very different picture. The majority of new MBAs have completely unrealistic expectations. A person who has moved from college to a mgt college and has zero-experience; expects to have a team reporting to him. The quality of education is SAD in most inst.s; many so-called MBAs have neither linguistic, analytical or conceptual abilities. Yet the degree of self-delusion is huge. Very few have the sense to try and learn something. It is a matter of concern that people with hardly any actual knowledge or skills try (and often succeeed) in getting ahead purely based on brown-nosing and game playing. As a visiting faculty in a mgt inst. some years back, I had asked for the class reaction if their boss were to ask them to do something wrong. 100% of the class said that they would do it. This is the picture when not yet asked! No hesitation, no mental struggle just a complete willingness to do whatever it taked to become successful. A refusal would be a distant dream as would whistle-blowing. There are some good people using mgt skills for NGOs or becoming entrepreneurs and providing employment to others; but these are the honourable exceptions. The economy is so good that every warm living body gets work. I would invite youngsters on the threshold of new careers to consider what their situation would be like once the economy takes a downturn and Co.s start linking employment to competence!

I really wonder when educated Indians going to US or Australia are willing to take up partime job of waiter/cab drivers to supplement their income what is wrong in India to take up a job as a fresher and learn/hone his skills for better prospects. Everything counts in experience.
So what you are saying is that it is better to be a waiter/cab driver in your own country?!
Saaar!
You are great! What "progressive" thinking!
Why haven't we been able to produce more people like you in India!
The hospitality industry would boom if we had more people like you convincing the misguided youth of India to not travel abroad to become waiters and/or cab drivers there!!

I agree with you. Moreover, we talk about racism in UK (against Shilpa Shetty). Then what is this "Xourav GanguLee" doing by adding his racial slur against South India. What will you call this. I am mentioning to the word "Saar" here.

Yes it has been made like this lately.Flying hihg, arrognace, loking down on others, high salry expectations and little output in reality. They have made mes of management, economics and business as well as ethics.
The loose manner in which the quality is commented upon about rung II institutes is surely a contemptuous attitude in India.I don't think quality of education is any much better in so called premier institutes either. These are merely hyped up set ups because they came up in license raj and are liberally funded by government and outside agencies.Their achievments and academic stnadards leave much to be desired and based on investment made it is very poor return.Ofcourse because of shortages of good institutes, there is beeline and these institutes attract cream of the lot every year. That only is their plus point. The companies should change their bad attitude and wholesale insult of talent in the country. The histroy shows that most successful and achieving and innovating brains in jobs as well as in business come from anywhere except from IITs or IIMs baring a few exceptions. When we treat our youth like this and don't give them chance to act at better work assignment, how they will prove their worth. We are just wasting money by paying huge salaries to worthless guys coming out from such few hyped up Institutes and we are spoiling wage market and external equity in the country. One reason for infaltion isn this fact also.I hope people will realise what is going on blindly in the country and take corrective action.
congrats to shyamal majumdar and other journos of his ilk ( e.g., amit) for going against the gung ho tide of orchestrated wah wahs on the indian economy!this kind of piece shud hv been written long back.. just under the surface of the superficial boom we hv a fragile job scene which will fall apart when reality catches up. the artificially high salaries, the job hopping without much task accountability.. the lack of real substance and skills.. compounded by sky high expectations and entitlements ! its just waiting for the bust!
India is a country with a feudal mentality and this shows everywhere, whether they hire people or drive on the road or just walk the road or walk inside a mall or supermarket. They act like they have the ownership to everything and everybody. When an employer traps someone, they don't care about the quality of the job done or the quantum. Exploitation is the only purpose for which they are hired. This mentality is further fuelled by the teeming millions (going billions) who compete for every job that comes up the market. This makes exploitation easier and the ones on the receiving end are left with no choice but to bear it. Unfortunately, there is no way this is going to change. This has been this way forever. Long before the jobs boom, we had zameendars. Their objective was to net every farmer in the 'loan trap', grab his land and exploit him for generations. The same reflects in these modern employers. They have nicely covered the legal loopholes by "designating" such MBAs as executives. If they have not in certain instances, the law enforcement agencies in India can't care less. Starbucks was forced to shell out millions of dollars for not paying OT to supervisors. It was observed that the supervisors had been working as coffee makers and cashiers at the job, and such jobs, by law, have to be paid gratuity and OT. Can this happen in India? Maybe, we'll see the 22nd century befor this is even given a thought.
that wit indian gr8 IT work force it ,i was happy that none of the software guys were in indian gr8 list during a survey by a credible indian news magazine

From late 70s when oil boom happened in middle east people from kerala are there, they worked there as shopkeepers, laborer's and unskilled workers.more over 75% of indians in middle east are from kerala and they are one among the largest foriegn exchange income for our country Now earing money by doing a work for Rs 12500/- is not a big offence in gulf, if we are not ready to work for that salary , there will be a paki or someone to do that, and that job may be his first one and later he will find a good one after he settles down there Now comes the quality and dignity , i cant understand why Mr Punde have some serious issue, may be he sold his mothers or wifes ornaments to get a visa to gulf and may not be able to survive there and came back to india, begging is the job that suites you very well

how come u forgot Tamilians who made big hue and cry in Malaysia, recently? or to that matter the maharashtrians who recently carried protest to Washington in USA, recently? Didn't that brought shame to India that Indian workers wherever they go will try to form unions instead of focussing on work?

Bloody Mr.West, If you are not aware about the whole story of Malaysian protest please keep your stinking mouth shut. Nobody Indian in malaysia tried to make a union and for your info they are not Indians who went to Malaysia for jobs. They are of indian Ethnicity.Because they are descendents of Indians who migrated to Malaysia during the end of 19th century during british colonial rule. They may probably be their third generation & doesnt have any direct link or citizenship of India.I am a keralite,My Uncle's grandmother in law(aunt's grandmother)was a Malaysian citizen. They had endless Tea & Rubber plantations in Malaysia. Her husband was shot dead in front of her and fearing the same fate to her kids also she send her two younger daughters to india and continued to live there with her young son.Eldest daughters completed their studies in India and became indian citizens and son & herself malysian citizens.recently she visited India to see her daughters and their kids and reletives & in between the visit she ied of a heart attack(she was above 90 but healthy)Our state police and other official never allowed us to carry out her funeral rytes in India. They deputed an officer for guarding the body and after 3 days we had to send the body to Malaysia for the cremation. This is upto what extend our country recognises Malaysian ethnic indians. They are denied of their right to vote and many other rights in Malaysia too.So dont shame too much about something you dont know much
