What the Hell will you do!!!
by obama man on May 01, 2008 10:57 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

The Value system in india has been eroded beyond repair (or if i am optimistic) there is some chance.
People no longer want to have the fight in them.

I have been in US since last half decade or more and studied worked been in different industries, what we import into india from US(the crap culture) is shit.

The success over past generations in US has been due to work ethic (hard hard work) and great tenacity and optimism and NEVERTHELESS, EMPHASIS ON EDUCATIONAL VALUES. Diversity of knowledge and application is beyond normal levels.

China has been recently (atleast last decade if not more) been greatly successful in producing talent in every academic sense who go on and apply that from welding to mining to civil engineering to marketing crafts and engineering financial instruments.

At a point of time when noone competed with pol. sci. or econ graduates from US(or generally Eur or west and US), today Chinese students and faculty and practitioners in these fields are par excellence. Ditto for a small country as SKorea(though much less).

Indians are and have done well too. BUT FOR A COUNTRY OF A BILLION, WE ARE DOIGN WAY WAY WAY WORSE OFF THAN REST OF THE WORLD.

WE TALK ABOUT IGNORANCE IN MUSLIM WORLD. SEE MUSLIM WOMEN (&MEN) BUT I STRESS..WOMEN.. SHOWING IMPECCABLE WORK ETHIC TO SUCCEED IN TODAYS WORKPLACE IN MOST COMPLICATED PROFESSIONS.

INDIA SOMEWHAT HAS BEEN DERAILED BY CONGRESS POLITICS AND IT MESS. IT SOUNDS CLICHE BUT TRUST ME WE NEED GREAT DAMAGE

China did very well in education & infrastructure before opening up to the world in 1979. They had many scripts and languages, which were replaced by one Chinese script and language by Mao. Now everyone takes part in the country's development. In India, only 7 - 8% of people, knowing good English matter, others r second class citizens in their own country.

China also introduced one child norm forcefully in 1979, controlling the growth of population, otherwise there would have been many more crores of people there creating chaos. We also must enforce one child norm, without adopting vote bank politics for appeasing some minorities.

by Dev on May 01, 2008 10:56 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

It is becuase of IIMs that other MBAs are suffering . IIM carries only brand names and most of it's graduates are unrealistic hypes . The biggest responsible people for such mess are the marwari and sindhi owned businesses where they make people toil to death

DO'NT FORGET THAT SINDHIS AND MARWARIS ARE LEVEL HEADED AND RAISED THEMSELVES ABOVE THE BABU CULTURE. IN MARWARIS EDUCATION IS TOP PRIORITIES. AT GRASSROOT LEVEL SPECIALLY REMOTE VILLAGES, MARWARIES HAVE OPEN SEVERAL CHARITABLE SCHOOLS SINCE THE TIME OF BRITISH, THEIR CONTRIBUTION IS MUCH MORE THAN OUR GOVERNMENT. OLD SAYING EACH DROP IS COUNTED. THE MAHAVEER INTERNATIONAL AND SEVERAL TRUST OPERATED BY MARWARIES ARE THE PIONEERS AND SILENT CONTRIBUTER IN PUBLIC HEALTH IN WHICH THE CHARITY IS GIVEN WITH PURE HEART.
SINDHIS MADE WORLD CLASS NON PROFITABLE HOSPITALS AND REASERCH CENTER. THIS KIND IS ONLY ONLY SEEN IN INDIA

YOU SEE DUBAI THE CITY OF GOLD FILLED WITH MILLIONERE, BUT NO FACILITIES NOT EVEN A SINGLE CHARITABLE HOSPITAL. EVEN YOU DIE, EXTREM HEAT OR ROADS ARE MENT FOR ACCEDENTS. NO WHERE YOU WILL SEE THE WATER, OR ANY MOBILE SUPPORT AT ROAD ACCIDENTS.

SO COMARE SINDHIS AND MARWARIES HOW MUCH CONTRIBUTION THEY GIVEN FOR INDIAN SOCITY THEIR BUSINESS INITIATIVES GENRETATED MILLIONS OF EMPLOYMENTS

Absolutely lier, How you can say SIndhi and Marwari has build Charitable Hospitals I never seen anywhere in India or abroad . THey may have build and taken commission for cement or steel supply but not done charity. Charity word is not written in their dictionary. They are most corrupt and money eaters of poor peoples in the Nationalised banks. Because they are the people who take maximum loan and build non performing asset for bankers and runaway they are the community who evade government taxes and paid underhand dealing with taxman to evade taxed.

Well said, these community has literally blood suckers in India and have exploited the Indians most why to blame MNC or their representatives because their bosses here are Indians only who pracitce these age old Sindhi & Marwari kind or unhumanly treatments to their employees. Working over 10 hours a day is henious crime and shall be punishable offence. But Government of India has no botheration what is happeing with people specially service class in private sector.

Service bonds are illegal
by Shiv Kumar on May 01, 2008 10:55 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

The girl could have easily sent a complaint by registered post to the Labour Commissioner of the state she is employed in with a copy to the HR Manager of her employer. That should have done the trick.

Service bonds to retain an employee are illegal under Indian law unless the employer can prove in court that the equivalent of the bond was spent in training the employee or in sending the employee abroad.

So a legal notice would have done the trick.

The girl could also have given a letter to the company saying that the working hours are very high and unless these r reduced, she will leave the company without paying any bond money. Or she should hv consulted some lawyer.

The girl is not a labour, she is an Executive in that firm. There is a solution for this, you have to bring union in this field especially a communist trade union only can do something against this kind of action from an employer.

Demand & Supply problem
by harish dewangan on May 01, 2008 10:50 AM  Permalink

It is a case of more on supply side then demand and the employability of young Engrs and MBA graduates is also a big question mark - especially when it comes to 2nd and 3rd grade colleges which are just opened to make money thru education business.

Parents should threfore take informed decisions and send their wards to reputed institutes even if it means leaving a engg seat from a lesser known institute.

Capitalism and exploitation go together. In a
society where doing farming or sitting in the
family business is below dignity after wearing
a pant and getting a degree, the suffering is
bound to take place. Education system is alienating individuals from human values and
dignity of labour. AICTE has destroyed professionsl education. Without buildings and
faculty, technical institutions funtioned from
marriage halls and godowns.Even to make matters
worse B.E. graduates are permitted to teach
in engineering colleges to fill faculty.
Yesterday student-today teacher. In the name of
access to higher education, quantity was the
only goal not quality. Any way who wants quality except in seminars and books?

Iam a CSE Engineer from indians top Engineering college REC/NIT, but still the case is same with me too. It not necessary that it happens with only low grade colleges.
In indian IT sector is dominated by service sector and Support. every where its mere customer service...and more of mere bull shit of mere talking on phone and doing monotonous routine , where application of brain is just 0%, which doesnt require any knowledge at all and graduation is totally out of requirement. But still people in india do it because graduates are available in plenty and indians are happy with the penny that they get and many shy away from competitions and are happier comparing thier economy with thier parents days.
its not only at the entry level or development work people, its true even with management jobs in india.
All the managers who are working for US based companies here are mere puppets, and shake thier head for what ever is given to them and never negotiate and are hardly good enough to crack a deal on thier own. All thier power goes on only with the labourers at india and it hardly has any impact with the clients, foriegn delegates or any where effective. Over a point of time when u realise all these i feel its all bull shit. YOu really can't grow and are often under employed and can't do what u are potentila of and what u wish to. MNC are no way great.
Small india based start ups are better, where u have freedom , growth and satisfaction for what we do , just in par to ur abi
