YES,That will be the surest way to destroy all job oppertunities in India. CITU will demand salary without work and will stop people from going to work with VIOLENCE!!Ours is the only country which allows Communists to spoil the work atmosphere and get away with it.In other countries the karats,Yechuries and Bardans will be permanently behind bar.

Playing with the career
by maverick on May 01, 2008 11:44 AM  Permalink

In fact most of the companies are just playing with the career of the students just for the sake of making money. Yes indeed slavery is what is the root of everything. Come to think of this to attract the foreign clients all that you need to put at stake are the employees. To add to this is the office politics and lobbyism which will make you go mad and even if you leave no stone unturned you will end up having a mindset which is so antagonistic.

Choose the right compnay instead of salary
by Ashish Soni on May 01, 2008 11:42 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

It is true now all the companies are doin the same previously their is emotional attachment in the companies and young CEO is creating these. Due to Good salary no body wants to work with TATA,Birla, Godrej, HDFC etc , every one wants to go reliance, bharti, icici etc.

Dear Rakesh,
Rediff cannot bring any changes in that but Centre of India Trade Union is there to bring you changes and ask your wife to join with that Union for changes.

not much of difference from IITans
by sharad maroo on May 01, 2008 11:41 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

well everything is money, if the gatekeeper is paid 30k permonth, then the guy is happy doing that job even if he is an MBA.

the same thing happened with generations of IITans, and graduates from premier institutes, all have become typists(programmers) leaving their original skills for money.

india always needed engineers & R&D in similar field, but all have become typists. we cant make bridges in years, railroutes takes years to complete, indian roads take ages to complete, we cant make hitech euquipments, this is engineering.

i feel all indian engineers are equal to gatekeepers. so nothing bad to feel about the low grade enginering colleges, its just these colleges cudnt sell well to the corporates.

well said.. i totally agree on this. SW engineers really are no more than typists now catering to the needs of a handful of ppl - the so called clients that we have lost the real crux of everything. Interestingly we are so proud of s/w tech but the truth is any new tech which becomes popular in India takes at least 3-4 years to make its mark here. Its just the same we are always dependent...

Fair jobs
by ashish vishwakarma on May 01, 2008 11:40 AM  Permalink

I feel that, in India people get jobs commensurate with qualification sooner or later.

If the qualification in terms of Degree & Institute are not of high value; It is a matter of choice if one wants to pursue it. One should not forget the AUKAAT: The real worth of it.

This is hilarious
by Chandra SK on May 01, 2008 11:39 AM  Permalink

Most CEOs today, MBA or not have had to do many of the so called 'dirty' things that have been quoted here as examples. I think the Bond is a strict NO NO but i am unsure that the other examples are particularly wrong. Life is not easy and no company is going to offer you senior roles on a platter. The 'grind' has to be done by somebody, the question is who? Fundamentally most companies give you a broad idea as to what you are expected to do in your new job. IF they haven't, please ask. Whining on rediff is not helpful at all.

No point in complaining - it's a game...
by Biswajit Ghoshal on May 01, 2008 11:37 AM  Permalink

... and guys have to play that. If you don't like it, get yourself another job. It's a tough market. On the contrary to above examples, I know cases where plain B.Sc.(hons) grads are doing very well in renouned corporates. That's the way this game is played. One'll have to be tough to get what s/he wants - none is going to listen to the complaints.

work is worship
by Prathap p on May 01, 2008 11:37 AM  Permalink

Earlier person used to commitsuicide when not getting employment. Plese see the plight of labourers in Duai and USA. Conditions are worse. If any do not like and there are chnaces of getting another job just leave it. Children after attaining majority mus work. Let them see which job they are eligible to get. Do not find fault with the exising job at least it is available. I know my cousin an engineer with out employment used to live on his parents income till the age of 35.
