Corruption
by Omal Raj on Mar 25, 2008 08:19 PM  Permalink

Huh? Every one of us know that India is a Corrupted Nation. And we blame the administration. Now please stop blaming the administration, it is us who makes this contry corrupt. Even if we know why this is supposed to be, we again feed them. If this feeding can be stopped, then we can erase corruption from India's dictionary..

What is Corruption
by Bird on Mar 25, 2008 07:46 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

UK govt bribing the Saudi Royals to ensure they sell their Hawk aircrafts is not corruption?

UK football managers taking bungs (bribes) to buy/sell players is not corruption?

CEO of TESCO bribing UK PM of millions of pounds to ensure only his company (tesco) dominates the market is not corruption.

Giving unfair parking tickets and cancelling the tickets for influencial people in UK is not corruption?

I have lived in UK for few years and I can tell you there is corruption everywhere. Its these western countries who come up with these reports and they find pleasure in blaming Asian countries,

he he. Compair, compair & compair India with other countries and find pride that we are less corroupt or the causes of corrouption in India are the western countries. If nothing is found, blame other countries for running such campagins. For what reasons, by the way, will any country spend money and efforts to survey 180 odd countries to "blame" OTHER countries? Will our country run such a report to blame Pakistan being corrouption?

i actually tend to disagree/agree with both the views. Corruption is prelevant in all countries and i find it hard to believe that they can obtain a reliable to measure the same. My view is that a lot of places corruption happens without degrading the quality of the work...like the ring roads in moscow...might be that taxpayers money is being thrown out to bigger corporations whereas cheaper alternatives are possible. But the quality of the output is pretty good but in india, quality takes a hit because of corruption and so, it is highly visible and difficult to live through.

Technology and Higher Pay is the Answer!
by Ramesh Kapoor on Mar 25, 2008 07:44 PM  Permalink

Will the Pay Commission report be implemented by the Indian Government? If it does, and with the use of technology, the index will further come down. The question is that it would require the Will of the people, and when the Government Ministers are corrupt, the dream is far from realisable.

CORRUPTION
by pradeep kumar vachher on Mar 25, 2008 06:35 PM  Permalink

I remember that India was at 128th place just a decade back alongwith Pakistan. Now it is at 72nd position. It is a big achievement. You hardly have to pay any bribe for getting railway reservation, income tax refund, making a STD (trunk) call which was not the case two decades back. Some are of concern is police, passport verification, education, civil engineering, municipalities. One of the reason for improving in transparency index is right to information, competetion, higher pay packages, TV chennels and mordern days Swamis.

CORRUPTION
by Meera Joshi on Mar 25, 2008 06:22 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Dear Sir,
Corruption is an integral part of our democracy. We all are a part and parcel of the system. which is rotten. The whole system now starts stinking that's why the people are making so much hue and cry. The same story goes on. Our memories are very short we will forget everything in time. The greatest the corrupt person the more the respect. People always appreciate his style of functioning and give examples to others to follow in his footsteps.

The leaders themselves are corrupt. Touch any politician worth his salt and he is worth millions without any worthwhile profession to show. When the leaders are corrupt how can you expect the administration not to be corrupt.

It has to be self interrogration first. And when i did it honestly, i was corrupt. So, there is no point in blaming political leaders or system. The only thing i could do is not to reach a position where i could influence decisions. Fortunately in my case, i am not in a position of influence. But it does not mean that my kid would grow without taking the nuances from me. So, the first step for me is to reform myself and live in a honest way. It means I should not justify myself by looking at others. So, for the better part of last 5 years, i do not bribe anyone through money and try not to get reco's to get the job done. And to be honest, i could get the job done eventhough it is frustrating at times. And with the knowledge that these jobs could be done faster with a little bit of currency makes it more difficult.

But in these last years i have found a lot of government servants who were good and dedicated.

And i don't believe that i can influence others and so, it is upto everyone to choose their lifestyles !

EDUCATED INDIANS R MOST CORRUPT!!
by varghese on Mar 25, 2008 06:10 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

THE REASON WHY INDIA IS ONE OF THE MOST CORRUPT NATION ON EARTH IS DUE TO THE FACT THAT THE EDUCATED..HIGHLY EDUCATED..PROFESSIONALS R THE MOST CORRUPTTED PEOPLE OF THIS NATION.

ANYONE WOULD TELL YOU IN ANY GOVT DEPARTMENT THAT THE LOOT IS DIVIDED ACCORDING TO THE POST AND AUTHORITY...

THE JUDICIARY CATERS TO THE CORRUPT OFFICIALS BY DELAYING HENCE DENYING JUSTICE..AND THE INDIAN JUDICIARY IS UNQUESTIONABLE FOR ANY DELAYS..SO THEY PROVIDE THE RIGHT PROTECTION FOR ALL THE CORRUPT OFFICIALS NATIONWIDE..

IF U REALLY SEEK TO KNOW THE TRUTH IS THE INDIAN JUDICIARY IS THE SOLE REASON WHY INDIA IS AN HIGHLY CORRUPT NATION...AS LONG AS THE JUDICIARY IS UN ACOUNTABLE TO ANYONE..OUR NATION WILL ALWAYS BE CORRUPT...

TO TOP IT ALL..THE EDUCATED PROFESSIONALS IN ALL SPHERES R THE MOST CORRUPTTED..PROVIDING VERY DIRTY ROLE MODELS TO THE YOUTH OF THIS NATION...

It has a very simple remedy. Allow the media's camera inside the court room. Since there is no live media coverage the judges and lawers find it a game to raise and listed to some unearthly and ridiculiously silly arguments. Once they are brought infront of the camera, out of shame, they will start discussing, debating and arguing "sense".

Varghese, You have to understand that corruption (in a bigger scale) needs a lot of raw intelligence, flexibility and adaptability. And that is why people in higher sphere of life are more corrupted !!

This would be the case in every country and so there is no special string attached with india.

No its not the politicians. Its the ridiculiously conflicting constitution that we have written for ourselves. The politicians are just abiding by the word written in that book. The ones to be blamed are "Indians", every citizen alike, weather a government servent or not all are equally responsible for this nonsense and most of all the so-called guiding book, the constitution, should be made more "guiding" in nature rather than being nonsense.
