Pitiable Salaries!
by Kabeer on Mar 24, 2008 06:17 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Alas!

Cabinet Secretary gets even after 40% hike a mere 90,000 pm. What a pity!

Even a rookie MBA from a third rate institute who can not draft a decent letter, and do not know the difference between the words COMPLIMENT & COMPLEMENT, and who spells DEPRICIATION for DEPRECIATION gets more than that!

At this rate no Govt servant can lead an honourable life!

Let him also do the same thing such as MBA from a premier institute. Let him try to avoid corrupt practices and make all people under him abstain from corrupt practices. He will also get a lot of respect and high salary.

Dear Shailendra,

A very lowly paid and much abused both by bosses and general public, Police Constable works an average of 12 hours a day without even Sunday off.

A traffic cop stands in sweltering heat and in rain in the middle of the junction at a stretch for 10 hours breathing toxic fumes! And pays his taxes (I wonder if he gets enough even to enter the threshold of minimum tax bracket!) with his employer not hiding his salary in any hidden manner and making payments on VOUCHER!

A Bombay traffic cop even allows himself to be abused as living Advertising Board for Private Sector Companies, as his Rain Coat is printed in the largest possible fonts of a Mobile Telephone Co or a Private FM Radio station (because those organisations sponsor providing his rain coat, which is actually, a part of his uniform that is supposed to be provided by GOvt.)

Have a heart dear, and reclaim your mind too!

Dear Shailendra,

Has ever one cop caught you on the road when you are not at fault, like skipping a signal or driving in a one way?

Has ever one cop who refused to give a receipt when you have paid a fine?

Has ever one cop demanded when you were at fault not to pay your fine and pay his bribe instead?

Arent always the guilty offer bribes and even compel a traffic cop to take it and let you go scot free!

You know all the answers!

Kabeer I second your thought. Anyone talking about corruption/bribes should question himself ten times, as to why they are resorting to these means. You want your passport done, pass 1000 bucks and its done. A needy would always resort to easy money. Just because 20% of the govt lot is corrupt you can't blame all. I come from a defense background and anyone opposing the salary hike should live a life of solitude for 30 long years just to serve nation and then raise their voice, whether the hike of 40% is justified. You are reaping the fruits of someone else's effort bro. think again

I'm talking about 100% in terms of searching new opportunities for bribes ... opening a school that teaches the govt employees/ police etc to learn how to get more and more bribes and enjoy this NON TAXABLE INCOME :)

The devotion of the ARMY and other defence personnel is not at all in question.

But along with them those who doesnot deserve will also get the hike.

try to understand the Word Monitoring.

Taxes can not be Evaded by a salried person in our system. this Class of workers can not Hide any thing of their Income hence they have full right to ask for accountability of their tax Paid.

Please dont compair with Pvt Sector salaries
by dharmendra jadoun on Mar 24, 2008 05:59 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

My message is that salary hike should not be impressed by Pvt sector earnings...

Private sector runs on profit & performance and it will take just 15 to 30 days for a person in pvt sector to loose his Job where as govt employees salary moves only in one direction and that is also without any profit performance and liability...

If we are earning lakhs today. Tomorrow we may loose our job if we don't perform.

and even if we perform and economy goes down, or our particular sector faces bad days then also we will be jobless....

I Pvt sector you need to think of one month salary as liability where as in Govt a min 30 years of liability involves.

I am a scientist and I stayed back just because of some family compulsions. I give 110% to my work. But I earn a fraction of what I would have got in US. I think the setting up of pay commission is necessary to account for inflation. Dont thionk the work done by private firms are outstanding. Lets take the eg of software firms, if you guys in infosys or TCS think that you are competing with the world then you r wrong. Indian software companies r hired because we r cheap not because we are effiecient. If you guys think u r effiecient. why dont we see any indian company produce a software like windows or unix.

Please don't take otherwise, everybody understand that a pay hike for govt and other people is badly needed... what i'm saying that comparing with pvt sector is not correct...the factors should be inflation, affordability to govt, etc..

and at least 30% of govt employee never need a salary to work they earn in lacks in terms of bribes and they don't even need salary to do their work forget the hike :)

I was a central govt employee for 28 years and had never an occasion for a bribe of one rupee, this is true for majority of central govt employees, because their nature of job was like that.

Check Corruption
by jyoti loya on Mar 24, 2008 05:57 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

I dont mind increase in hike of salary by 40%.In this advanced era why cant we have system, which although may cost a hefty sum to the government which will check corruption.
1)We shd have proper biometric system to check in and out timing of all the Govt.office employee.
2)Make every transactions transparent in terms of cash.
3)All employee shd abide by the deadline of work completion so that public does not have to visit offices frequently for the same work.
4)Introduce "DIgital Signature "concept.
5)Online cash transactions be made little cheaper so that public is motivated to use that the most.
6)Everyone shd be made accountable for the work they are supposed to do and rcord it in IT system and make CR's based on it.
"If more money then more accountability and proper utilisation of manpower which is being paid for the work they are supoose to do.

Hav an optimistic view. I am hopful somone like lallu vl come at helm. He transformed the raliways. Likewise v can see changes like pan card, voters card, ration card, taxation, telicom sector, electric bills, passport.. thngs change for better.. It takes time.. and always better if it is gradual...Our India is 60 years old. Dont compare it with 100 or 200 year old countries or for that matter oil rich economies or unstable economies like Chinese or other middle east countries...Ms Jyoti, why do u want an establishment to run like some erstwhile communist nation underground mines.. why dont v opt for google employees work culture.

Corruption Commission
by nanda on Mar 24, 2008 05:52 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

I dont know why there is no Central Anti Corruption Commission in India. Everybody knows that most of the Govt staff gets bribery many times more than their salary. Now pay commission has increased their salary significantly, govt shud curb the rampant corruption at all levels.
