central govt employee doesn't deserve so much hike. How much they're contributing to the country GDP, hardly. Most of the govt firms are even not contributing a single rupee to GDP. Moreever, they are enjoying the facility of medical, LTA, apartments/flats at negligible price and also job security. Why would we working in private company only contribute to country GDP, putting more effort to make organization in profit. Also by this much of hike, prices of goods will rise sharply. Government have to consider to those low paid workers who works in private firm. where they go?

Ask your aunty and her daughers to eat very less as they are eating too much of junk food all time of the day, they are facing obesity, but not from working in Central Government firm. Please remove from your mind that all CG workers are workless. They are hardly about .01% without work. You instead of sitting infront of computer and complaining CG workers just rome around your city and find how many Govt. workers are working for your wellness and how many of them were obese. Ur aunty like Lazy fellows are not the representatives of CG workers.

pls note, ONGC and GAIL contributes to the petrol and diesel for you and your private sector employer, by the way of subsidy of more than 30%. Even the pickup and drop of the IT employees are supported by their subsidy. The cooking gas for food you eat is subsidised by them. Which the pvt sector oil co., at least one bear subsidy. When Global Trust Bank went burst, It is OBC, a public sector bank absorbed all the loss, saving many private sector employees who hold salary account-we all know pvt sector doesnot go to public sector banks for salary account. Please see what was the salary of GTB MD and that of OBC. 10% of India's industrial production use CSIR technolgy(and it is govt.) In flat terms public sector employees are underpaid by 66%, because I was offered 3 times the salary from private sector. Private sector companies like IT are supported by the govt by trying to keep Rupee weak(at the cost of BPCL,HPCL,ONGC,GAIL...etc) arent you weeping when dollar falls.
Public sector employees cannot evade tax like the pvt sector do. Which of the pvt sector cos support the villages, If you send a courier to a village, they will send send the recipient a post card asking you to recieve the package at the office (so they make profit) You look at the pvt sector telcos. do they serve the villages. they go to cities and towns where profit is. look at hospitals, banks, even private bus operators(they avoid trips if there is no sufficient passengers to make profit.) you need to know wh

Are they eligible for this?????
by RamRamRam on Mar 24, 2008 09:10 PM  Permalink

The current Salary of Govt employees should be treated like a pension.

1. They do not come to work on time.
2. They do not complete their work on time.
3. Take hefty amount as bribe to move a single file from their desk.

Given these facts are they eligible for an Increase? They should continue to work under current salary for next 30 years......

sixth pay commission
by sundararajan narayanan on Mar 24, 2008 08:08 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

many staff give their own version on pay hike calculation just by reading the news item in parts.Understand in Govt. matters one has to study the case in full. Then only you can arrive meaningfully. I am not a Govt. Staff, but knows accounting. I say, the impact of hike for 2008-09 is calculated Rs.12500 crores. You guys are in total 4.5 million. The average is Rs.30000/- p.a. monthly Rs.2500/-( another calculation on arrears is Rs.19000 crores for 27 months. The perhead average is average on is Rs.42000/-). These Rs.12000 crores & Rs.19000 crores I refer from this news item only. If the above big sums are after correct calculation then from the average one can assume how much he can get more depending on his position& scale. My advice is to study the recommendation in full with regard to computation. Do not go by 40% or 52% and then feel sad later! Anyway enjoy the moment!

Very well said. If these calculations are true, it would seem to be another case of govt acting smart. There may be more catch, as a lot of the pay rise will be taxable, whether these figures of 12000 and 18000 cr are before or after tax deduction remains to be seen

6th Pay commission report
by Awdhesh Kumar on Mar 24, 2008 07:43 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Govt employees, including myself, are more than happy to note the recommendations. In one sense, it is deserving provided Govt employees work sincerely, honestly and with devotion. There should be discrimination between the public- dealing- employess and others; former are not affected with pay hike or not, since their pay is only a pea nut of other income.Political lobby has no courage to bring such corrupt babus out as they are the momey pumping sources for the corrupt politicians and middle men.The brunt would be on poor BPL & APL families who would pay through nose by way of inflation due to abnormal pay hike to the Govt employees.Let there be outsourcing for major activities being currently undertaken by the Govt.Courier service is better than Govt postal service, though a pvt mailboy is hardly paid anything.Govt has to ensure about quality of service, timely service delivery without any extra cost to the public.Unforturantely, babus are so strong that no action is taken against them inspite of proof and complaint. It has to be set right otherwise this pay hike would be dear to politicians in Delhi and state.

SAHEB, we the people are not happy with your pay hike. Please change your work ethics to convince us. Ultimately it is our money which you take home to pay your children fees; and to build bunglows; and to buy jewellery for your wife; and to pay for your luxury tour.
