its really sad to read the news about trees going to be cut, when did the corporation care of poor pedestrians, who want to walk, already mlore is hot as hell, any way those who wnt to cut trees go by car, who cares for the common people who wanna walk
Realty prices have started rising since 2006. Land has become scarce for the locals due to the investments from 'outsiders' (mean all possible ways) and the price. Only air and water are ours. M'lore is going to become a great tourist destination due to the - unexplored - scenic beauty in & around. As far as the name is concerned, let it be KUDLA or KODIAL as this place belongs to TULUVAs & KONKANIs.

Mr Abdul, Please don't say like "go back to your state".You please go back to your Country. We are INDIANS. You are Anti Social saying like this. It's the Govt who will decide Mangalore or Mengaluru, not the dictaors like in Pakistan. We INDIANS are well educated not only Karnataka. Try to learn from Histroy.

The topic is on not changing the name of the city. People who come here for bread & try to create rift among the locals should be shown the Raj way. BTW I am a proud Indian.

I don't think it is ever possible for a person who comes for bread to divide people.
And it is sad to see that this city has not yet developed and you guys have already started deciding on a name change like what happened in bangalore / bombay. Note that Bangalore / Bombay were better before the name changes happened.
If you are really cultured, it will show in the city irrespective of the name the city has. With these demands, you are actually showing your lack of culture.
Also, what do you mean by outsiders? were your forefathers in mangalore ever since the first human being was born? I think not. So, obviously, at some point, you are also an outsider.

Just FYI, the Tulu name for Mangalore is Kudla. Again just FYI, Tulu is the local language spoken in and around Mangalore

You are right. In the line "First they explored Bengaluru and then moved on to Mysore" we should change explored to exploited. Mangalore unfortunately is heading the same way. Flip side of it though is that well paying jobs are coming to Tier II cities giving good employment opporunities to youngsters in those places.

maybe making life more easy for them - with better opportunities and exposure, they may have an easier life.
yes, what I dread from this is the lack of peace but that is always true for every growing city. Now, it all depends on the law and order situation which has not been very good in Bangalore. It also depends on how greedy the 'locals' grow by seeing the growth around them.
