While in senior secondary school, I used to drive a scooter (Lambretta and Vespa) and get my fill at 70 paise per litre. The purchasing power of that 70 paise could be equivalent to Rs. 10 of today

Arre is jawan budhe ne 60 paise litre ka petrol dekha hai - Tab Burmah Shell or Esso naam ki company hoti thin - Burmah Shell ka advertisement tha "Put a Tiger in your tank". Budhhe ki yaad achhi hai? Kyon? Maan Liye na.
I remember buying a bottle of beer, one american dollar and a litre of petrol for Rs. 8.00 in mid eightees. Now petrol costs significatly more than the other two.

1975 mein Rs. 1.25 per litre nahi ho sakta. The price of petrol had tripled after the 1973 War between Israel and the Arabs to over Rs. 3 per litre.
