I remember the lowest deisal prices i had seen on the digit systems of petrol/diesal machines at fuel pumps was Rs 5.00 per litre. The UPA government had totally failed to stop inflation at any value, I personally think that they ( whole UPA GOvt.)should make resign statement to nation as they fail to handle the situtaion infact they had made the situation terrible. But I know this also that the ministers/ Politicians they are shameless peoples by birth, but one thing I can do is that never to make my vote to haath wale log bade dirty log hai.

Do you remember your income during that time?? Please compare that with your grand son's income now. Easy way to understand why fuel price increased!!!! Haha

I think you know that owning a Bull is far more costly.. You may have to spend 100% more for the same distance travelled on your bullet compared to the bull-cart. Also you can't use bull-carts in city roads (Illegal.. Please refer to RTA rules)
Watching vver the last several decades, it is s clear, the Congress has been less than efficient in managing prices than NDA, BJP & others. To cover up their inability, Congress starts mouth- ing economic rhetoric such as "in a developing economy. prices are bound to rise". Yes, they rise but not this phenomenally.

It is not govt or some one who can control prices.. Mr Prashant don't make politics here in blogs.

update ur records. no govt has been able to control oil prices due lack of long term vision. NDA, BJP or UPA; each one of them has never gone for a deduction on excise duty or sales tax. the original oil price has always been half of what we actually pay. e.g. if petrol was 30/-per litre in NDA govt regime, then at that time we used to pay almost 15/- per litre in terms of various taxes.
the need is to go for alternate fuel options and exploring our own resources. but we people always used to induldge ourselves in NDA or UPA driven politics. plz get out of it.

The point I am trying to make is that prices did rise during all regimes but during the NDA time, the items were still affordable despite the increasing prices then. Now during UPA regime, it is a nightmare. Plus there were much less industrial strikes during NDA regime because of the real fear of privatization, so man days lost was much less. Overall, NDA looked more efficient in comparison.
Cooking gas when it was first introduced in the early sixties was first sold at Rs. 16 per cylinder. Deposit for gas cylinder was Rs. 50 ! Price of real estate in Karol Bagh, Delhi was Rs. 8 per square yard in the late fifties. How much is it now ? !!
The Lowest price paid for Diesel by was Rs. 8.00 per litre in the year 1997. I used to drive an ambassador at that time with a fuel tank capacity 50 Lts. and the Full Tank used to cost me a mere Rs. 400/- and now GOD HELP ME!!!
I remember having paid Rs. 3 10 annas for a gallon of petrol in the sixties, in Delhi in late fifties. Later it became 67p per litre in Bombay as it was then called, when the Rupee paisa concept came into being some time in 1964.
