Rs2.75 per gallon in 1962 and Rs1.50 per litre in 1970 If only our politicians and leaders could teach the new affluent class the value and importance of energy. what are the Marxists shouting for. marx would have committed suicide by seeing them as Communists where their seven yeras ex chief minister rides in a convoy of 12 cars. Let us educate ourselves alongwith the newfound prosperity.

My Salary! No way ! It was my Father who paid for the bike and petrol. I was in college at the time.
in 1972 I could get 6 liters for Rs 10/. But it was not that costly earlier. in 1968 it was less than one rupee per liter. In may be 1965 it was available for around 3 rs per gallon ( one gallon = 4.5 liters.) More information could be obtained from petroleum ministry or dealers. However this information is of no use. since fossil fuels which are not renewable would continue to be costlier each day.

petrol prices in USA are now slightly less than prices in India. Since there is no price control , so the prices vary on different petrol pumps, and vary every day, now a days.
this was in 1993....it started shooting after the first gulf war...when the crude oil per barrell was costing only $15....from then on I don't ever remember the oil price has been reduced...:((
