PEOPLE IN GENERAL WERE MORE SATISFIED AND HAPPY DURING THOSE DAYS WITH LESSER SALARY. SALARIES ARE HIKED AFTER THE THINGS GET EXPENSIVE AND NOT VICE VERSA. I HOPE YOU WOULD HAVE SOME GREY MATTER UP THERE.
We use to fill my father's car for Rs 1.03p per litre before 1971. Suddenly after Bangladesh Liberation War it was increased to Rs 3.17 p per litre. When I owned my vehicle, the cost per litre was around Rs 8 in 1985-86.
Once I laid hand on my grandfather's diary. I got hold of an old petrol receipt issued in the year 1935. The receipt was for a gallon of petrol worth 12 annas only.
