Lowest paid ever for Petrol
by oriental minerals on Jun 27, 2008 05:08 PM  Permalink

I remember very interesting incidence in my life. In 1973 i passed out from XI (senior secondary part-II.) To have a gala time in the night after viewing the gazzete i got out my father's lambereta scooter & spent Rs 1.50(year-1973)for one litre petrol. More interestingly we were three friends to ride & we shared 50 paise each. Obiviously it was out of reach then also. Practically car sales are boosting day by day & new variants are always in demand.

some facts and figures of NDA
by Nalees on Jun 10, 2008 09:05 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Well i am sure many rediff forum members will ditch me into congress cing this comment but i myself was suprised to c these facts!

1.the GDP growth rate registered during BJP six years was on an average 5.8 per cent and not “over 6 per cent” as claimed by the BJP. And even if it was “over 6 per cent”, surely, it is less than the UPA’s record so far. After all, it is a well-known fact that after the disastrous fiscal year 2002-03 the then Prime Minister Atal Bihari Vajpayee decided to make a change in the Finance Ministry. He brought in Jaswant Singh to replace Yashwant Sinha.
2.The NDA regime raised the price of petrol over six years by Rs. 11 a litre even though, comparatively, the prices of international crude were low, ranging from $12 to 34 a barrel as against $134 now. Nobody at that time behaved and talked as if “economic terrorism” had been unleashed on the country
3.The NDA increased the price of kerosene used by the poor from 2.52 a litre in 1998 to over Rs. 9 a litre in 2003, an increase of over 350 per cent! The UPA has almost completely spared this section of consumers, raising the price by only 8 paise during the last four years.
4.Again the NDA raised the price of a cooking gas cylinder by Rs. 110 over its six-year regime. And, yet, it wants the UPA to quit office for raising the price by Rs. 83 over four years, including the recent hike of Rs. 50. Prices are hurting, but this high decibel debate needs to take place in the realm of facts

NDA AND UPA ARE JUST THE TWO FACES OF THE SAME COIN

Congress is the Father and BJP is the mother of the sum total of the lowest ebb Indian Polity all of which are busy in dividing the People of India on Caste, Religion, Language, Region etc basis for garnering Power and Pelf by hook or crook forgetting the basic Truth that the welfare and good economics of a Nation lay in the good economics and jobs of the governed people but nerver in the governing State and its(State's/Govt's) jobs(.)For the Am Admi there is no difference what so ever whether NDA comes to Power or UPA comes to Power(.)

Dear Sri Vikas Malhotra,

Thank you for this pertinent questiion to the Govt of India(.) Reducing Tax and Cutting down prices are the bane of not only a true and sensible democracey but also a sound economics(.) But we have a democracey since Independence till date where all the pillers of democracey espeically the Media and the Polity are hand in glove with each other and are hoodwinking the people by curbing the real burning issues of the people and doing their dirty business with dangerous and anti people issues like religion, caste, language, region etc so that they can garner power and pelf by hook or crook(.)

Cost in Pondicherry
by VIJAYASHANKAR S.M. on Jun 07, 2008 09:23 AM  Permalink

I remember my dad filling petrol for Rs 18.3 for 15 litres at Pondicherry (Pudhucherry) in 1977.

I destroyed the bill last Oct, as we were searching for something from his trunk, after his death.

Regards
Vijay
