Unreasonable

Yes Vivek is right to tell this thing as he always thought of unreasonable but did reasonably great thing during his career .I am a big follower of Vivek ,the visonary unorthodox CEO .I am giving something unreasoble thing which I think all the best India INc should take note
There are plenty of experts in different line at the age of 60 plus available in India perhaps the highest no of expert intelectuals in the world availble from India itself along with end no of young intectuals .I thing company all over the world now should hire those 60 plus people from India and get boost and benifit from there service .This is unreasonable thing for the India Inc and I am sure if they listen and implement this unreasoble thing then both will be benifited .As I always beleive there is no retirement for a true marketing people if he maintains his life on a healthy note .Unfortunately our Indian system is still langushing on feudal mindset which we have inherited from British .If business has to survive in this most competitive age in the world it is this unreasonable thing of giving a second innings to all those retired experts .A simple example is how Shane warne a retired expert cricket player build a Team rajasthan Royals and made the team a winning the IPL cricketteam from out of nothing but from a scrach, unorganished players who was, booted out from the Indian test and ODI Team and would have been never called if IPL and Shane Warne was not there to help .abboral@gmail.com

Undoubtedly a great leader

I worked in Wipro when Vivek Paul was CEO. He is a true visionary and leader. It was amazing how he initiated new ideas in the company. If he wasn't there, Wipro would have not be what it is today. It was sad that he left, I should admit it lacks the vision what he used to have.

Rapid growth is power to idiots
by Raman D J on Jun 03, 2008 06:25 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

The Indian growth story is making any tom, dick, & harry grow very fast and reach important positions. I , untill recently, was working in an Insurance, healthcare group, where an idiot was heading the finance function. His biggest qualifiacation was that he was a huge chamcha of the 2nd most important person in the group. He had made everybodies life hell.

the reason why u refuse to name the company itself tells ur type of stand that u and ur so called proto-types can take...

it simply means u lack the moral courage to dig out these scums..this shows how the state of the nation is in..we pass the buck to another..

if India had honest educated morally sound professionals they would clean the society of such chamchas, political appointees, caste based ,region based appointees..

sadly we have highly educated, but dishonest opportunistic people up here..who are ready to complain but who will never clean the system if given an opportunity..because they refuse to take an responsible stand...

remember as long as India lacks such responsible, accountable professionals the future of this nation will be always like the present.. try to have genuine national responsibility instead of passing the buck or complaining...take a moral stand..there are many who will join u in nation building..but u got to take some stand ..honest responsible accountable citizens make an nation strong...

What if the boss is sense-less ? Which company one should join if he thinks he is great ? none-of the companies in india is great. Same is with the bosses. Either u go out or continue with status quo.But the problem is where to go. How did u learn to respect the boss ? Does it help professionally?

Agree with what Raman mentioned. The labour/employee laws in India are not strong enough support an employee fighting against the non-sense higher ups. This is one of those reasons why employees quit companies rather than fighting against the bad management. Law process in India also rigged by corruption. However, this will change soon. What India going through now is the one of those phases every developped nation has gone through, it will all be for good.

Lol, thats a funny comment. But I completely agree with you, it is quite amazing to see worthless people occupying important roles just because they know "someone" higher up.

Raman,
Bosses more likely prefer chamchas to efficient people. One must add this qualification to the profile.

I agree with Vivek
by Badrinath Korti on Jun 03, 2008 06:14 PM  Permalink

I agree with Vivek. Finding good people to lead is a big challenge in India and I also agree that we need to be unreasonable at times. But we feel that we are safe to think conventionally and keep doing the same. That includes the planning for contingencies.

Well said Vivek.
