India will soon be 195th
by rediffblogger on Jul 24, 2008 05:56 PM  Permalink

In India politicians r more concerned about generating wealth for themselves by any fraudulent means at the cost of the taxpayers money. They give a damn to the economy. There can be no more proof of this than the recently concluded trust vote in Lok Sabha where money was allegedly paid to several MP's and who unashamedly sided with those who paid more money irrespective of whether the nuclear deal is in favour of India or not.

So in such a situation its only obvious, what they will do for the poor and needy of this country. Today India is ranked 160th, however none should be surprised if we r ranked 195th in the world by next year, if our parliament is ruled by jokers, murder convicts, terrorists etc.

The sad fact is that educated, intellectual and upright class of our society do not take politics as a serious option, as they know they need to stoop to drastic levels and forgo their self respect to be a politician. So as long as that's the case, India is headed only in one direction; SOUTH period.

Incorrect data??
by JGN on Jul 24, 2008 05:55 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

The report says: The Irish have a per capita income of $48,140, ranking ranking them twelfth in the world........ a few years back a I had worked with a person from Irland (who was working for a US Company) and he had told me that Irland is also a poor country like India.

So the data seems to be incorrect (of course I do not know whether that country has progressed so much in the last 17-18 years).

1. USA has a population equal to all these 10 countries put together. If each person earns $46000.00 per year, just imagine the country's actual wealth.
2. USA has a taxed income unlike majority of these 10 countries. In most of these countries including Bermuda, Cayman Islands, Qatar, etc. money laundering is rife. Most people who stay or are supposed citizens of these places are either millionaires in their actual countries of origin or make millions managing funds for these millionaires.
Qatar is a surprise in the list as it is a well known fact that among the Middle Eastern countries UAE and Kuwait are much more richer. The average per capita income of a Abu Dhabi native (Abu Dhabi is one of the emirates in the UAE) is estimated to be USD$ 17 million ; while Kuwaitis too have similar incomes.

not realistic
by Ravi on Jul 24, 2008 05:38 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

India\'s 70% population lives in villages and about 25% of those who are below poverty line means could not earn even Rs.1500/- per month or less, then how these figures are realistic. Some could not feed themselves properly in a day. Till govt. will not look on to these issues, development of India is very far till that time.

Thats right and all political parties may consider the reality of Hunger, BPL and corruption not the N-deal and stock and commodity market. Because these are making wide gape between common man and government.
