by Altu Faltu on Jul 23, 2008 11:40 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Oil prices rise - Govt. coiiects more money.
We spend more on petrol - Govt. makes more money ( Fringe benefit tax).

Govt. uses this money for our welfare - It buys more MPs - We are lucky to have these people on our head.

OUTSOURSE THE GOVERNMENT FROM AMERIKA.

There is no god. Wealthy people are supreme - they and only they should be worshipped. They would create Heaven for you on the earth itself.

WORSHIP AMERIKANS - THEY HAVE ALL THE REMEDIES FOR YOUR AILMENTS.

am an athiest..
It gives me so much more strenght.. everything happens in this world coz of a reason and the reson may never be god..

"god helps those who help themselves" I have found this so true.. it always works.. but if you think deeper it means there is no god.. its you who helps yourself..

God is a concept that feels good.. its a feel good factor for us all.. give us comfort that we are not alone.. I thought when i turn to athiesm ill be a worse human being.. but today if i do good for some1 its not coz i think god will make my life better.. the motive of the help is to make the person feel better.. i realize i may never be rewarded for it.. i just find it a more noble intention to do good..

if every good you do is to get a place in heaven.. i feel you are doing good out of a selfish motive.. just my thoughts.. im open to any critisism.. but would emplore you to give it a thought before you say anything..

Price Hike
by Manish Shirsat on Jul 23, 2008 11:35 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

The statement it self shows the working of NDA government.

When the International Market of Crude price used to rise up, they increased the petroleum rate.

I would like to give an example when they were in a power the LPG cylinder we used get was Rs. 167.00 & when they left it was shoot up to 327.00, Is this a reduction, price for the petroleum products were raised approx 12 times and they are filing pain when the International crude oil has shoot up to 147 us dollar per barrel.

I appreciate our finance minister job, he has done wonderful job, even in this international price crises.

can u give me one answer??? if i am taking 10% tax from u... and if u are earing 100 rs i will get 10 rs... but when u are earning 150 rs how much u will earn???

is it 15 or not?? so 25% - 40% tax on crude is from a last 10 yrs or so... suppose govt getting 1000 ltr crude at 20 dollar it cost them 20000 dollar and 5000 tax

when barrel cost 150 dollar total exp will be 150 X 1000 = 1,50,000 and 25% tax.. 37,500 dollar from 5000 dollar it rise to 37,500... is this not earning???

and u are telling FM doing good??? which way ???

Very appropriate word - Windfall Tax
by Shyam on Jul 23, 2008 11:29 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Yes. The best word is windfall tax for what is going on now! Everytime the price of any product goes up, the tax thereon too goes up - ofcourse unnoticed and the FM is happier to fill the coffers. The oil price need not go up so much high with the claim of continuing subsidies - Make it zero tax material and sell without any subsidy - on actual import cost overheads basis, see the cost coming down steeply. This is the second stretch of Tuglaq Raj we are seeing, earlier everything including beard growing was taxed and now too every service, every activity is taxed inspite of the highest-ever inflation figure. Even the price tags of MPs to cross-vote has gone up so high! Still the PM and FM are happy in their dreamworld!

Are you ready to pay USD $ 182.25 per barrel of crude oil?? Please ask the FM to make an exception in your case as other Indians are not interested. Besides after getting the crude oil barrel get it refined and made into petroleum or diesel at your cost. Lets see if you can sell that petrol for Rs. 50.00 per litre. If you are not an economist atleast dont comment. Just dont copy / paste someone else's comments or thoughts.

Main Hoon Na?
by chandrashekar nayak on Jul 23, 2008 11:23 AM  Permalink

This is a joke :

Train was approaching the last station which was just about 10-15 Kms away. Almost all passengers got down in the last but one station except a young girl and a man. Train was passing through a dark canal; girl told the boy : " I am scared ". Boy replied: Don't worry. Main Hoon Na? " . Girl replied back : " That is why I am scared ".

I think we all should be worried becoz our F M keeps telling ' Main Hoon na?'

NONSENSE
by Husam Gafur on Jul 23, 2008 11:17 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

This is pure nonsense. The price of oil has increase from US $35 to almost us$135 !!!! Any economy will face pressure and economic inflation be cause of this and this has to be an acceptable fact of life . The BJP or any other government cannot solve this crisis. Privitization or anything else is not the solution. The price of oil must come down.

More importantly, its not the Finance Minister who is getting the money in the form of taxes. It is the Ministry and eventually the money will be used for the country's welfare.

Another ridiculous argument.

The key duty of finance minstry is a proper distribution. No one is saying the tax is going to FM's pocket but, the distribution, the incentives, or the valuation of Re. is not proper.

If the price of oil comes down, the oil producing countries economyy will go down. When the price was going down, anybody paid reasonable price for oil; when it goes down, you benefit. when it goes up, you compensate for the increase from the benefit you derived in the past. It is the simple economics. The oil price should be at least USD.120/- per barrel, based on the oil price of apprx. USD.20 per barrel 20 years before. Similarly, gold is also selling below the expected price of Rs.1500 per gram for 22 ct. We have to taken into account for these increases constantly and run the Finance Ministry expecting the price increases. If it is increased, we have a cushion. It it goes down, we will have a better cushion. Personally, I budget for an increase of 10% cost of living increase on an annual basis, which has provided me excellent saving year after year as the increase is not to that extent. Always budget for a bigger amount, and you will have a safe sailing.

This is the fine example why Mr. Naik had lost his seat against film star Govind, People understood that Chikku (Govinda) can better understand situation. If Naik can't see defferences in 35 and 135, a big jolt for BJP.

Oil prices would be 135 even if NDA was in power now. However, it is the attitude of the govt that matters. While previous NDA govt had managed to handle oil price rise very well and planned for future (global oil price rise was existent during NDA rule also), the present govt is had just taken populist decisions and when the situation is out of control just running away from responsibilities.

It is not fair on your part to discard entire article and criticize it.

As you've rightly said, price of oil has gone up from $35 to $135. But, our currency is Rs. Who asked to govt. to tag Re. with $. Look at EU nations and Japan, the inflation is less than 4%.

Govt. should have allowed Re. to appreciate. Export industry was comfortable at 39 exchange rate.

Exactly. And that is why the Nuclear Deal is important. If the reliance on oil decreases, automatically the demand decreases and consequently prices fall. Reduction in oil prices will immediately correspond to reduction in food and other commodity prices (as freight would reduce). Whatever the PM and FM have thought is truely in the nations's best interests
