..But he like Mr.Atalji is in a wrong party. The same BJP banned the bidding of PSUs for IPCL, when it was on "sale".And made way for Reliance to have a monopoly in petrochemicals.

There are some dalals in BJP same in the nature of Amar singh.ExampleArun SHORI

we dont have a honest debate. we have theatrics in mr. iron fisted chidumbaram and lalu, then we have a supposedly above the theatrics mr. manmohan who attacked advani today - making him join the league of theatricals. where was manmohan when sikhs were massacred in a larger number than all the tragedies put together ?

from the same place where gujarat riots come from. Inspite very good performance of Modi Govt. in last 6 years, UPA ( UMar Abdullah in parliament yesterday) keeps on quoting Gujarat roits. they are just trying to downplay their lacklustre performance by qouting such roits and so sikh roits will also resurface... For MMS or any other sing every body wants to be king... country, community etc are secondary to all... particularly to politicians of present era..

To the Muslims these people say, "You are an Indian first and then a Muslim". The very same people tell the Sikhs, "Don't forget the 1984 riots, you are a Sikh first and then an Indian".

FM has raised all the tax and yesterday's incident in PARLIMENT has clearly shown us in black and white where our hard end money are going. All for great MP's, we are gifted to be born such a country.

As in the US, all citizens should be brought under Income Tax net
by Iyer on Jul 23, 2008 12:20 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

I understand, in the United States all employees are expected to pay Income Tax on their income. Of course amount of tax paid would vary from person to person depending upon his income. This way there would be no free-roaders and everyone will have a sense of belonging, and everyone will feel proud that he/she is making a contribution towards the nation's economy. They would even be careful before they damage public property during agitations etc., because everyone will know that it is their tax money which is getting damaged. This would also increase the Government's income.

May be the Government can also think of reducing paper-money circulation in the country. All transactions ranging from purchase of grocery down to clothes, tailoring, medicines, doctor's fees etc. should be made through a smart card, and a percentage of every transaction should go to the government.

This way government will have more money to write off farmer's loans and claim credit for dumping our money down the drain.

Why cannot Mr. Chidambaram think on these lines?

My idea is when you bring in this smart card system, it would drastically bring down the amount of paper money in the market. This way black money and counterfeit currency would be substantially checked. And, presently 4 percent of our population pay Income Tax and the remaining 96 percent are free-roaders. When every paise you spend is trackable through the smart card system the money earned by government by way of a percentage of each of the transaction would grow by leaps and bounds. The income tax payers who are subjected to about 35 percent tax (including education cess) they can breathe easy and may be their income tax can be brought down to reasonable levels of say about 3 or 4 percent. I say this from a layman's point of view. It is for the economists and financial wizards to find out a practical way out. The shopkeepers and smalltime businessmen who earn lakhs of rupees every year paying a paltry sum of Rs.1500/- per annum as Income Tax, they can be made to really contribute to nation-building.
