Few changes needed!!!!

For Indian S/W companies to grow in future, they need quality raw material i.e., solid base skills of students coming out of colleges.

For this to happen, the quality of education in colleges has to improve dramatically.

A decade ago, for someone to get into an engg college, it used to take a lot of hardwork and competition.

Unfortunately, now a days, with private colleges mushrooming on every street of any city/town, quality is not a matter of consideration!!!!

Here are a few points to consider:

Colleges:
1. Strict rules should be applied before giving permission to setup a college (not just a recommendation from an influencial person)
2. Follow-up inspection of quality of teaching/labs.
3. Students are confident that they will get recruited by some IT company irrespective of how they perform or how much they learn. (Change this atmosphere in the college - create competitive env).

IT Companies:
3. Better screening mechanisms: Don't go to a college with a target to hire X number of candidates. Go and hire only those who are suitable and will take your company to the next level.
4. Value for employees: Give proper attention to the needs of your employees (don't just treat them like slaves) and in turn get the best out of the person for you to move up the value chain.

There is much more that need to be done to take these IT companies to next level.

Wake up!!!!
