There are 350 million starving people. Mukesh wants to hire world class management faculty. Can there be a more glaring example of our screwed-up priorities ?

If those 350 mil have to come above poverty, we should have many more industries and good staff to man them. For that these candiditates should be trained to intl standards. If a man does good you blame him. If a man does bad you blame him. What is man supposed to do dude? Can't you see good in anything?

IT IS MUKESH AMBANI'S MONEY, HE CAN DO WHATEVER HE WANTS TO DO WITH IT. YOU EARN EVEN ONE-HUNDREDTH OF WHAT HE EARNS AND THEN TALK ABOUT 'PRIORITIES' MISTER! WE INDIAN CAN NEVER GET OVER WITH OUR SICK HABIT OF THINKING ABOUT WHAT OTHER PEOPLE SHOULD DO RATHER THAN BOTHER ABOUT WHAT ARE WE DOING WITH OUR LIVES!
Without taking anything away from Mr. Mukesh Ambani's magnanimous gesture and his business achievements in general, I'd like to point out that he did not graduate from the Stanford Business School. He dropped out. Since an alumnus commmonly means a gradute of a school, college or university, here is an another example of careless writing on Rediff.
NOT A SMART MOVE REALLY ! Indian companies should have had two sets of expertise ideally. One would interface with the International partners, understand their methods and derive mutual benefit from it. Second set of experts would have preserved Indian ethos as well as enhancing living standards across board for majority of populations through job creation, real term productivity, and honest sharing of wealth. Although undoubtedly an unparalleled leader, that Mukesh Ambani has been, he certainly erred in encouragung average Indian to put his 'current' as well as 'future' earnings in a stock market which was 'absolutely' and 'heavily' loaded against small investor. International experts have been creating 'bubbles' after 'bubbles' in global economies for last two decades with hidden purpose of draining hapless and poorly informed average citizen of world. Most financial experts and MBAs from IIMS have been taken in by the latest jargons and by quaint 'quants' etc. Fundamentals of economics and growth have been subverted and later camouflaged by International experts in fancy technical terms. Lacking real intellectual giants locally contries like India have been taken for a big ride. Chinese nation, since it is tightly integrated, understands and tackles international trickery, to its own advantage. An intellecutually divided nation like India has bled and will continually be bled, at faster rate if our IIMs do not develop rigorous home bred economic models.
RE:If want IIM to be world class institute then definitely world class international faculty also required.

agree..
Yes,ambani is a messanger to US he knows that in future US needs more professors from india. If he started it now he can win this game in later.Make everything as business.
I mean we Indians have now started dreaming too much, to employ foregin (read WHITE) faculties, i bet faculties who have retired and now want some SUN might apply, i mean get a grip, we are not even as developed as CHINA, forget INFRASTRUCTURE, CHINA has its own fighter jets, which class they belong is not important but SUDAN uses that in DAFUR to bomb civilians and our TEJAS sits on a TRIPOD !!!

Huh!! dimak hein terako? What's the point? You are saying we should develop our arsenal to bomb? and where did China come into this? And be happy that someone is willing to foot the bill out of his own pocket. For whatever he is, be happy he is willing to foot the bill for the salaries.
If only all other stinking rich people contribute too.. it would help.

I guess since we will be recruiting mostly WHITES, that will make us Indians as the lower castes, since we all know how the colour shades work. The point is now, will the higher castes (WHITES) get into OPEN and can the BRAMHINS allowed to get into OBC, in such a senario what about the OBCs and SCs grievances, of BRAMHIN oppression, i guess the best will be BAN outright entry of BRAMHINS and OH yes, if the WHITES the christian can they apply for special reservations for CHRISTIAN OBCs so that BRAMHINS can apply in OPEN, i mean we should actually be investing time here, forget IIM, get the reservation sorted out !!

Really well said... It could work something like this: 1. If you're from US - 55% of positions reserved 2. If you're from UK - 35% of positions reserved 3. The rest 10%.

I don\\\\\\\'t understand What you people are talking about?. For any government has to take care of te oppressed community (caste). It is their social responsibility. Let us assume that there is a handicapped in your own family. Will you give him/her preference or not? Don\\\\\\\'t blame the Quota! But think Why it is continuing for a longer period (Still)?. can you tell me me Why? The very simple reason is People like you in the decision making place. You are not allowing them to get their right. Now I come to the point that whether we allow foreigners to enter into IIM? Whose money? It is the money of our own people. We have to still generate more jobs. Already lot of (Indian) brains working in the foreign land. They need our brains. Logically seeing this matter one can easily conclude that we need only Indian brains not foreign brains. -Professor_stat
