This is just a statement for metros and in metros this realtes to only to few people. Even if you go just 50 km away from any metro city you will find, rural india still begging for basic amenities (food, water , shelter and roads, electricity). I dont agree, cause if only 15 to 20 % people are getting benifited by the so called growth then its not real growth...
I am reffering to the speech of Ms Nooyi. It is quite encouraging that India is doing well and will continue to do well in the economic front. But the sad part is that India will continue to be recognised as a Developing country for many many years. Main reason is that we don't earn a major portion of our wealth through technology means (the acceted definition). We earn through natural wealth and service sectors. Manufacturing has taken a back seat due to lack of high technology base. China is much much ahead. In addition we will face a tremendous crisis in agculture where will lack both high tech.and the manual work force. In the social arena, we have the most backward and neglected lot. Considering all these, it does not give the real hope and pride.Something different has to be thought of.
I agree that on economic fronts india is growing. But I would like to ask these people who are boasting of economy whether they are looking at social aspect in India.I feel that we are socially still very backward. Look at population growth which is a negative aspect for economy, but nobody is even mentioning to reduce it. dowry is still rampant, female infanticide is rising, poor is still far away from getting basic things like health and education. If we are developing then why the no. of babas and gurus is increasing.See the growing crowd in religious places . Is it a sign of a healthy society . we still dont want to shed off castism and communalism. We need to really work very hard on the social front otherwise there is no point in boasting about the economy
