Incapable and insecure people do this. There has been constant migration all over the world, to seek best opportunity. It is era of globalization.

District as State
by usa on Jul 07, 2008 08:35 PM  Permalink

Government of India must amend constitution and reconstitute every 'district' in India into a 'state'.

Each district must have its own constitution, legislature, government and courts.

However there will be a common currency and passport across India.

This will
1. Decentralize governance and socio-economic wealth in India.
2. Promote 'rational' competition among districts.
3. Prevent 'black' money in India.
4. Empower 20 million people per state.

He is just doing it for publicity. His words have no sense at all. Maharashtra is not his paternal property, after all. All Indians have the constitutional right to go anywhere, anytime. He is no authority to dictate anything.

Utter Crap
by Truthful Man on Jul 07, 2008 06:42 PM  Permalink

I think these comments made by Raj are baseless and are just meant to be in news and get more popularity. Without understanding anything about CMZ, he is making strong comments about its impact on the economy of the state and the country. The CMZ law is made to protect the coastal lines which are fast being captured by builders and real-estate big-wigs to fill their pockets. The builders resort to dumping of construction debris on sea shores to claim that land, for dumping of garbage which has led to destruction of mangroves and has changed the ecological balance. The effect is already visible in the form of consistent flooding of Mumbai during rainy seasons. Development should be supported but not at the cost of environment and by removing the existing green cover of Mumbai and making it a true, concrete jungle. I think economic development can still be done by expanding to nearby areas like Navi Mumbai instead of claiming the sea in the name of development. I think Mumbai has already reached a threshold point and the next level of industrialization and development for the state can be brought only by investing in other smaller cities like Nasik, Nagpur, Pune.

Another point that Raj has raised is about the progress that Goa and Kerala has made. According to my knowledge, these states have primarily progressed due to tourism and still it is some way to go for them to reach the industrial or technological superiority as compared to some of the other states like Gujurat, K
