Every one want to make a fortune on the hardworkship of farmers.

Always ,It is simpler to sell , It is difficult to grow.

Remember it is ultimately farmers efforts, labors sweat which any trader community is converting into wealth. This is a bitter truth

So while appreciating the IIM guy , just think about Indian framers , labors whose sweat and tears are going to full the objectives of IIM guy

This is really funny arguement. It is not the production but sale which is important. if some big organisation can build the market and stream line the distribution channel, the pressure will be on the seller to bring more in the market. This will encourage the farmers to grow more. The finnaial and technical inputs will be provided by the distributers to increase yield. in fact there should be more such competing organisation to creat market, strengthen distribution and storage. yhis will give more profit to farmers and lower the prices for consumers.

If Production is not important why there is world over food grain crises now a days?Let sellers ,businessmen ,Dalals get solved it.

India stopped exports of food grains and rest of world is blaming India for this action ,because of which food prices in their country is rising.

Remember Ultimately it is production of Food grains/veggies that does matter. Otherwise why west and USA are giving heavy subsidies to their farmers and not budging in this issue in WTO meets.

I think Kaushalendra has at the ryt time entered into the retail boom and has capitalised just ryt well on the ignorance of Biharis. I know Bihar is a veg and fruits hub and kaushalendra's next step will definitely to sell this supply chain to Reliance Fresh or may be to More... He is a money aspirrer.

contrarian
by surajit som on Jul 06, 2008 06:50 PM  Permalink

people like him are contrarian. if succesful ,they can make immense impact. anybody with a good degree will get a job. but by rejecting it ,one shows character. most sucessful men of today's india(or elsewhere) belong to this category. anybody can follow a beaten track. doing the opposite is far more difficult and the reward ,bigger !! think of narayanmurthy of infosys.

Uh Hoh

I guess he made this decision in haste. No doubt that he brought some constructive ideas forward with his exceptional BM skills. But he need to time and again recollect that he's in India. So far so good, but wait until he gets popular in the state. The more you are good to the nation, the more you will be threatened to live a peaceful life, in terms of getting extremely unwanted partnership requests, offers and you are deemed to listen to them! After all he needs support to fulfill his achievement. What is brain without any other physical resources !

Nice Job, Kepp Politicians out
by Gopalkrishnan Kalpathi Subramaniam on Jul 06, 2008 06:23 PM  Permalink

It is really commandable to have taken sucha bold move. Usually such ideas work for some time till the politicians see a pie of their voters' cake and then jump in to spoil the whole thing. Watch out buddy. But I am also sure that it such bold moves which will bring about the changes that India badly needs.

Fishy?
by Ananth Kumar on Jul 06, 2008 06:16 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

While what he is doing is nice , one wonders whether he is doing this because he did not get a job through campus recruitment. I saw this guy on TV-- he can't speak English properly, Oh, and I am not being biased just because he's an SC, so please don't accuse me of racism.

He is not an SC (and even if he is,it is something to be proud of - as he came through !!)
He is a Agri-Business Graduate from IIM-A ; which is a different program from the flagship MBA program (which generally makes all the news for placements etc.).
The Agri Business Mgmt Program (ABM) takes in around 30 people per year with different criteria than the MBA as the ABM program attracts people who have an Agri Background and thus dont compete on the same scores of CAT with others. So it is vastly easier to get into the ABM program than the MBA program.
However, that does not mean his endeavor is not worthy of appreciation - its quite laudable.
