Do you think he is such a novice to not know whats happening in his cashiest cow. Come on he is too shrewd a business man to leave the richest company to managers. As long as he keeps getting money for his Jaguars, Coruses, Daewoos and Nanos he gives a shit to employees

Dont be childish! Marwaris primarily expose their scapegoats to public but act behind the scense. Look at Premzi, he will also do the same because of the above stated reason. Ramadurai is just a toy in the hands of Tatas.
TCS reduced variable pay (almost 50% of take home) by 30% in 2001. They have again reduced it by 20% this year. If you take inflation at 5% and average annual hike of 7% in salary (which is what most employees in TCS got) then you will realize effectively TCS is paying you lesser salary than it was in 2001. Did it reduce the 1Re options that it gave to Ramadorai and Chandra? No. Also it promised that in good years employees will not get complete variable pay as 30% will be parked in a reserve for bad years. What happened to that reserve? Anyone who leaves the company does not get anything from the reserve too. Also the variable pay is based on last years performance so how can they reduce it. They have also fired around 2000 people and asked many others to resign. This is the farciest company in India. They only thing it cares for is how much money Mr Tata takes home for his Corus and Jaguar buys not the employees who work 12-14 hrs. Rata Tata is the biggest fart in the name of ethics and promises. Sometime back people were cursing me on this forum for ridiculing him. I ask them to read TCS employee comments in hundreds now. THANK GOD I left the company though they never paid me my earned leave (such cheapness)

If you aren't happy with the way TCS pays and if you feel the company doesn't take care of the employees but for Ratan and the acquisitions of Corus and Land rover, why the hell do you still stick into that company and if you have the guts to get a job elsewhere Pl.go and join there.Sticking to the job and ridiculing the company is the worst thing in life.Hope you would understand as an educated guy.

This is subjective my friend, i think You should love your job and not the company.
All the companies are here to do business and earn profits. There is nothing more or nothing less than this principle.
This is one of employee non-friendly co i have ever seen.TCS is known for low pay at onsite. They are at bottom, compared to infy and wipro for US onsite salary. I do not understand why 100000 guys work days and night for nothing. As far as job security concerened, they have started layoff people .In last 4 month they have fired 2000 employee in india alone. If someone thinks that my info is not correct, then go and verify the facts.
TCS is just a cheap sweat shop which cannot be trusted. All its talk of ethics and high morals fall flat on its face. The company cannot hoodwink its own employees for long. I personally feel it is a highly hyped and pretentious company. It should stop making noises about ethics etc and come clean on its policies if it is serious of making any headway in this competitive world.
Salary cut is a smart move. while given a big pack while getting huge profits. while incurring losses they minimise the losses by controlling all costs. If company is healthy the pay pack will be good. Any company should do this. Unwanted managers should be thrown out. Many Managers just pass the time should be identified & pushed out of the organisation. In IT industry the mony paid basing on the job orders while the revenue comes down profitability comes down. Hence many offices should be selved down to save costs on rents & maintancance cost. Now every company will do the sensible things. Satyam & Other IT who got the real estate in the name of IT will sustain presently because of the valuation. Only on job works means they too have to come down on salaries.
TCS IS KNOWN FOR ITS MEAGER SALARY PACKETS.ONLY TOP MGMT PPL WHO DOES NO WORK WILL ENJOY HEFTY PACKETS .POOR NEWCOMERS WHO GIVES EVERY THING FOR THE COMPANY ALL WAYS ON THE LOSING END.
TCS has to make drastic organization changes to eliminate redundant senior mgmt positions which is the real overhead for the company. They are not adding any value to the company. Sales force is highly ineffective.

Absolutely, no need for NRIs with fancy degrees who knows nothing but carries PIO cards but earn like 50 Lakhs and 1 Cr. just because they did their B.Tech in IITs some 20 years ago!!!!
Haaha...its too bad and pathetic. Why employees are worried about sal. cut? If you don't like, just switch the company. After all, world is very big. if u have the talent, u r the boss of ur sal. u can decide. I fu r not happy with the job and u still stay in the same sompany, means u r not skilled...u r afraid.

I agree with Rao, If you are not happy in a company, just leave. In exit interview you can tell facts about company. OR while leaving write a polite mail to decision makers in a company like Sudha Murthy had written to Tata. Your mail can transform them to introspect about their policies.

well said mr. rao. The morale of the story is rediff just want to publish something. Bottom line. - If u r not getting enough , just switch away.
If the company does not do well, the variable component of the pay, givens them the flexibility to change their salary burden...and employees are very much part of the company to enjoy the fruits of the highs and lows ... What's wrong with that? It is done in most advanced companies around the globe.... - Sri

The problem is when the company exceeds its EVA target the excess amount goes to EVA bank. But when it doesn't meet the targets they reduce the employee pay out. TCS has enough money in its EVA bank and could have avoided this.

This is applicable only when employees are partners! Employees are employees, you cant distribute your financial loss to everyone while passing the big bucks when you are on a high-ride only for senior executives and shareholders.
