Avoidable
by Rajesh krishna on Jan 31, 2008 05:07 PM  Permalink

This is an avoidable decision. The company's revenues haven't gone down. In fact it has posted better results than last year. Now this will pass on like an endemic and it is the employees who are going to bear the brunt.

Salary cut
by Ramamurthy Venkatarengan on Jan 31, 2008 05:05 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

I dont know why people are saying it as a welcome move. This is a bad sign for us. So, this is a red signal for all other IT companies/employees. I think other technology people are so jealous about this sector and thats why they are telling like this. God saves india and indians

TCS salary cut
by Abhishek Tiwari on Jan 31, 2008 05:05 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Can't say the same for other sectors but it's quite necessary in IT industry as they are the ones paying heavily and creating financial imbalance among various sectors in the same economy....

It is because of IT sector only lot of companies are willing to take up Infrastructure projects on a BOT basis. Infact due to the IT boom if somebody is suffering, then it is only the IT guys...If you have any doubts ask the govt babus, auto driver, real estate developer, retailers, housemides, house owners etc of Bangalore...

inevitable
by noshir on Jan 31, 2008 05:03 PM  Permalink

this was really coming. this is an interesting development because it will be a precursor to almost unheard of trend in IT industry. can expect this to trigger a higher percentage of employee churn in the IT industry. TCS of whom many would think of as a conservative company has thrown up a surprise by being the first to manifest that things are no longer as rosy in IT industry as it seemed once.
