cut down salary in TCS
by saravanakumar lakshmanan on Jan 31, 2008 11:08 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

This is absolutly non-sense. If they fall down they should sack the top level guys and all the managers first.why all the employees should pay the money. This is the clear mistake done by the top level managers. At any cost they should not affect. This is very ashame and they dont have proper strategy in project delivery

God Bless TCS

This move will help TCS come back stronger. It will help sunrise industries attract talent away from IT. Civil Engineers who picked only IT might start thinking about a career in Infrastructure where they belong. It will of course also help recruiters who can wean away people from TCS. Basically good all around.

TCS net profit has risen above market estimates to Rs 1330 crores versus Rs 1247 crores the last quarter. This is the report of the third quarter for TCS and all of a sudden they say target not met and they plan to reduce salary... Absolute BS

The market values sustainable growth and a salary cut will help boost the stock price of the firm....
Stock holders gain but employees loss....that is the way the cookie crumbles...

MAY BE GOOD FOR EMPLOYEES TO SURVIVE
by vijayan govindan on Jan 31, 2008 10:25 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

the TCS move may be good in one way rather than retrenching the present employees.as per economic theory for every continuous growth there is a downward trend sooner than later. let IT employees learn to avoid wasting money resulting in hardship to common man, for example the rent in bangalore, cochin etc. they should think that just because they r working under extreme pressure, only in rare cases, they deserve a special treatment in the society.
IT brothers and sisters should learn to tighten their belt rather than thinking that they are some specials just because they r paid more than others. let us have a society of love and affection rather than divisions based on wealth. in another 3-4 years India will be in a major recession and the fate of IT companies, real estate companies ,banks and auto sector will be in great danger. let us all get prepared to face that situation and try to save rather than just wasting money in consumerism. also let us help and support many of our poor countrymen who still have only one time food to eat. why we Indians are so poor in charity work and donations. let us create a Rama Rajya of prosperity in our Great Country.

It may be a good move as far as TCS is concerned. But, I totally disagree with your sadist views. There are some negatives for short term. But, India has even more growth opportunities as a result of current situation. Indians need to exploit that opportunity. Over a period of time rupee will keep appreciating. But all that means we can buy cheaper goods/raw materials from other countries.

what nonsense yaar....it is definitely not a pay master and needs to become more competitive when it comes to salaries....already we see flight of top management in IT to aviation, retail, ITes, banking cos IT has not remained so lucrative at higher levels....

How come they recently posted great results which met targets etc etc and suddenly have fallen short of EVA when it comes to employees salaries? Double standards or were the results fudged? Painting one picture to the stockmarket and another to the employees? That looks two-faced to me....
