RE:Everyone works hard

true...agree with you!! Talking to some IT guys, you will get the impression, that they are the only ones working hard....By Jesus, some of my friends in the aviation sector put in 14 hours on a daily basis and go thru some 60/70 eng. drawings on a daily basis...and it is sheer mental and physical exhaustion....

Most starting salaries in IT after a graduation in engineering are in the 25 to 30K per month...

Aircraft maintenance enginners start at 70K to 80K per month...and they put in 12 to 14 hours much the same way that IT pros put...

Aircraft maintenance engineers are NOT supposed to build airplanes.......Physical exhaustion yes, mental exhaustion a very resounding Yes, an ill-informed loser like you won't understand cos you need to first lift the veil....and stop living in a vacuum...

And they get paid 70/80K to identify bugs, screen test, check controls and a whole lot of other stuff which a dingbat like you won't get.....and yes, they probably deserve more than the 70/80K they get right now....

You are not just an ill-informed loser...you are a very bad loser at that....i can see you all worked up and fuming just cos i exposed you to the bitter truth that IT is one of the poorly paid sectors...take out the carrot of the US and IT guys are just backoffice coolies....

And learn to be a little original instead of just using terms off others books...Retarded riff raff or hoi polloi might be a better term for you...

And yes, i never said that IT is a routine job..i just stated facts that IT guys are among the worst paid, hahahaha..

So stop yelping like a chicken peahen and continue your coolie routines...

Originality? well, i think there is more bureaucracy in the traditional enginnering fields like aerospace. i don't think one can actually be original there. in IT, you can still be original.

Why double standards.
by brajesh kumar on Feb 01, 2008 12:37 AM  Permalink

When the TCS gets more profit, it never gives more salary to its employees but when the profit is reduced marginally it penalises its employees. If it is is variable pay the pay should have also incresed when there was more than expected results.I would like to ask the TCS management why there is DOUBLE STANDARD.

Cutting salary when loss and when profit ?
by ban on Feb 01, 2008 12:34 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

When you again profit you do not give a Rupee Extra to the employees you give bonus to share holders. Then why when you are facing loss why are you sharing it with the employees where are yours shareholders?

it seems that many people are quite jealous of IT professionals.they have no idea how hard and demanding their job is....
a cut in the variable and it seems like some people are ready to have a party!!!
may be these people should look around and see for once the hard work IT workers put...at least by saying cyber coolies you acknowledge their hard work...

Cyber coolies is a wrong term....those who call them coolies probably were not good enough to get into IT in the first place...

But there is no place for exaggerated importance too...simply put, IT is not half as demanding or hard as some other jobs...eg. the job of an aircraft maintenance engineer is atleast thrice as tough and demanding as the job of an average IT pro...

So, calling them coolies is uncalled for, at the same time, IT pros should not get carried away and think that they are doing something of earthshaking importance...cos if you are working in a TCS or Infy or Wipro, the chance of doing something really cerebral is minimal...most Indian IT companies are involved in low end maintenance work...

Shameless management
by Samsung on Feb 01, 2008 12:09 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

First of all sack all the senior management of TCS. They make loud statements on NDTV Profit and CNBC of the continued growth of the organization and then screw the employees with salary cuts stating that profits are lower thatn internal targets. What is the target. No one knows. One fine day, they will say - target not met, cut salaries. Why not cut down on the travel and entertainment that these senior managers and their spouses "enjoy" at company's cost. Or the freebies that they give to clients in the name of relationship building and account growth. There are so many wastages in the organization which ultimately lead to lower profits and in the end the poor employee suffers. I reiterate again - throw out the entire senior management and bring in new management which has the necessary drive and attitude to steady this ship

We are not disappointed with TCS's Salary Cutting Decision - actually its not a salary cut
by manzoor murshed on Feb 01, 2008 12:08 AM  Permalink  | Hide replies

I could not find a suitable reason to be disappointed with the decrease in variable payment. To clarify this %u2013 Variable component of salary is totally dependant on the profit earned by a company. Companies like Wipro, Infosys and Accenture also do not guarantee 100% variable payout. There are few factors which have impacted profitability %u2013 Rupee appreciation is one among them. Companies like TCS are not fully dependant on US economy. Agreed, that sizable revenue comes from US business but European, APAC and domestic economy business provides sustainable revenue.

I absolutely second that, Mazoor. I work with an IT biggie myself, and understand some of the business pressures that confront such huge concerns.

TCS employees should think of this cut as a price required for job stability.

by Surag Singh on Feb 01, 2008 12:48 AM  Permalink
Rubbish! TCS earned about 60 per cent of its exports revenues from the US and 24 per cent from Europe, with the domestic market contributing about 8 per cent. Only 8 per cent!
Is that sustainable.

Not a CUT in Salaries
by vishal on Jan 31, 2008 11:55 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Hi this is not surprising. The cut is in EVA or variable pay. It is know to all if the targets are not met the variable pay decreases. That is idea of variable pay and it is in practice in many companies including infy! Why it is big news. Does rediff not understand funda of variable pay?

You are right,
This shows the rediff standards and Most of the people in this forum are also unaware of the funda. TCS cuts some amount to recover the target. EVA may be more/less depends upon overall Company/individual performance performance.
