in india most of the economic decisons r taken by the state governments due 2 our federal set-up and hence if the state governments r gud then obviosly our economic growth will improve.....the economic growth in gujarata is 12.9 % while the largest growing nation in erath china has it @ 11.7%.....so if gujarat was independent nation then it would have emerged as the fastest growing nation in earth.....the economic growth in other nda ruled states r are also very impressive and almost all nda ruled states and behenji ruled up have growth above 10%.....while in case of upa and left ruled states it is about 7 % only.....if states like maharshtra, tamil nadu and andhra pradesh were ruled by bjp or nda then we would have emerged as the fastest growing nation in earth and even above china and clocking 12% per annum

We all could see what the BJP-JDS combine did to Karnataka. Not a congress supporter but S M Krishna was the best chief minister Karnataka has had in the recent past. And guess what even with out a government the investment in Karnataka has shot thru the roof. Investors are happy there is no government, less people to bribe and less red tapes to cut...

Atleast S M krishna did not let his goons free to kill, loot and rape... It was one of the difficult times when he ruled the state... remember the Nagappa issue, drought, rajkumar kidnapping etc etc... S M Krishna did not have his religion to back him up in the election. And by the way if SM krishna and Naidu were voted out b'coz of their anti people policies then what was wrong with the NDA and its India shining program that got booted out.

sonia is political head while manmohan is govt head. this is a healthy combination and both operate independently while consulting each other on important matters. no wonder India is growing so fast.

u r right. they were saying when sonia comes to power nuke button will pass on to the wrong hands. Sonia has been an able UPA leader allowing Manmohan to operate independently on all beaureaucratic matters, economic matters etc while she is dealing politically with the opposition or Left and holding the coalition together. This is a healthy combination.

winning or losing election is not in hands of Sonia. it depends on how the CM and party performed in the state. she has won many state elections after becoming Cong president. Cong is together only because of her. She got Cong voted to power in 2004 single handedly. U can't help it if some Modi fanatics vote with a communal mindset.

u idiot, terrrorism is not in Govt hands. Even developed countries like UK or USA or Israel are victims of terrorists who operate like cowards from behind the scenes. first try to have an outlook like a true indian. we have to fight terrorism together.

It needs sense to understand english.Your relatives were not in Plane. Seems Only BJP supporters.?????????
Even with so much opposition by Commies, Cngress is able to achieve almost 10% growth for India. What if it had a Govt of its own? India would have atleast 12% growth every year,it will have nuclear cooperation with developed countries, will be part of security council backed by western powers etc. In local level, there will be no strikes, no communal disharmony etc. Congress should be voted to power on its own in next elections for India to become a true global power.

Reg. nuclear ("123"), Communists are very right in opposing it. Nuclear issue is very very sensitive and most scientists in (Indian)Department of Atomic Energy are against the 123. Self sustenance should be the goal, not begging.
India will not be allowed by US, China, Britain and others to become part of the security council, though they may speak in favour of it when Indian Prime Minister/President makes a visit there.

I am a regular reader of rediff and I often see people expressing their views. I know we all are well wishers of our India but what are we actually doing except for reading and commenting???? We say we love our country and we keep an eye on each and every development taking place but is that it ???? is it enough to just reading a newspaper ??? Okay let me ask u something?? When someone in ur family gets ill (God forbid), what do u do??? do u start shouting at that person for getting ill and blame him or her for bringing illness into the home? Or do u take him to a doctor for a treatment??? Of course, the second option%u2026.. and we treat the illness till its gone.. isn%u2019t it ?? same is with our country. Unfortunately it has been chronically ill and we have to treat her slowly and steadily. We cant just blame each other or the politicians for everything. What is a country??? Its just a piece of land. We the people constitute this country%u2026 isn%u2019t it ??? so logically, we are a part of our country and also its illness%u2026 ask yourself and answer honestly, have u ever given or accepted bribe?? If yes, then why r u discussing all this and wasting ur time here??? if u want development u have to become a part of it, big or small. And we the ones who bring these politicians to power. So if bad politicians are in power it%u2019s not their fault. It is ours. If we do not practice out RIGHT AND DUTY to vote, we have no right to blame and shout at others. Small things

And we the ones who bring these politicians to power. So if bad politicians are in power it%u2019s not their fault. It is ours. If we do not practice out RIGHT AND DUTY to vote, we have no right to blame and shout at others. Small things make a big difference. Whenever a government is formed in india, it is formed by coalition and the main party in the coalition has to take care of the smaller parties of coalition instead of the country and its needs. The regional parties may be good for a particular region but in a big picture they actually play a very harmful role for the central government. So its time we keep our country%u2019s interest in mind when we vote rather than our regional interest. Its easy to talk and difficult to implement,, especially in a vast country as ours. If each one of us start to change ourselves and takes a small duty to avoid wrong and stop it from happening in our daily lives and most importantly VOTE RESPONSIBLY, i don%u2019t think we are too far from success.

well said. One of the achievements of UPA govt is communal harmony in India, no meaningless rhetoric against pakistan and troops to border an then pullout meaning useless expenditure, no kargil war etc. Just imagine the growth India can have if COngress is all on its own with 300 plus seats. India will become a true global power.

Its not Congress or BJP who is responsible for this growth, its the policies of Globalisation that made all to follow it, its the workforce of INDIA who is behind the phenomenon growth not the Corrupt politician like Congress(Who made the 9.6% to delay for a decade). This phenomenon growth was started by Rajeev Gandhi then-----Haulted by Narsimha Roa (silently catalysed by Manmohan Singh )-----then pushed back to negative direction By GUJRAL, GOWDA,and then Nourished by Vajpayee and BJP........and finally the rippened Crop is encased by Congress(Whome Mahatma Wanted to desolve After indepandance, so that Politics will not biased by work Done by Congress before indepandance and currently happening......And u r one Of those Biased Citizen Sarita MaM).

from ur post itself it is clear most of the foundations for india's growth were laid by congress. nehru founded the schientific instritutions of the country and public sector enterprises, rajiv gandhi took india to next level by telecom revolution and narsimha rao did economic liberalisation...count on only the congress to do path-breaking politics and econmics...now manmohan singh govt is taking it to next level through possible nuke deal and india;s entry into security council.
Now, Govt should start doing constructive development of our villages/poor which still is a larger part of our population. Agri. growth of mere 3.8% is dangerous sign.
What I could see is that one day earning of IT person would suffice the need of poor for one month.By this what I mean is : how this growth can be utilized to make least difference between these classes of people which would be the reason to detsroy the corruption.
Good work by the excellent financial minds steering India from the top. But, the rise in the per capita income is more due to the significant rise in th middle and upper middle class group...so the change in the overall figure from some 25k pa to 29k now..but this doesnt correctly reflect the growth in the income of the people who actually earn just around 25000 rs an year..
Lets Join our Hands and work for the development of our country, Instead of fighting between ourselfs in the name of Language, religion and caste. Vandematharam
