RE:boss

Everyone knows the following:
Bad bosses rise by unfair means.. buttering the higher up, claiming the brilliant ideas/performance of reportees as his and being YES master to his boss/ ringmaster to his reportees
A boss and his subordinate were having a lengthy argument on some work. The boss was getting increasingly frustrated in the points raised by subordinate.
Finally , when finding he was not able to win the argument, the boss asked,
"Look, are you the boss or am I ?
The subordinate , finally realising he may pushed too hard, said
"Of course you are the boss, sir".
The boss replied, "Then stop talking like an idiot".

Many times people get promoted just because of their personal relationship with boss.

I feel this is one of the most relevant topics of the day. Bosses expect too much from the employees and in retun, while giving the rewards, show favoritism. Politics has intruded in the arena of business and it shows at every level.
Dilbert classifies bosses into 4 quadrant - based on capability and evilness.
Type 1: Capable and harmless - does not exist Type 2: Incompetent and harmless - good entertainment value Type 3: Capable and evil - most dangerous type, try to redirect his evilness to coworkers Type 4: Incompetent and evil - Most managers belong to this type. That is why you need to read Dilbert to cope up with such bosses

Type 1: Capable and harmless - EXISTS !!! generally that make it so far into the top that they are direct managers for too few people.

My ex-boss belongs to "Type 4". He was not capable to do the proper review. Even he never touched the assignments what were assigned to him by customer. Now, he is onsite because he and his boss both are very good friends.
Exactly such a female reporting offcie in the Times oif India. The wrong part is that (physically well built and powerful) female reporting officer in the Times of India was intimidating, completely brain-less but a sychophant, so managed to hold her job, (and continue to physically intimidate and threaten her reportees)

Its OK Mr. Ravishankar, but todays world most of us (most indiviual) is being controlled by Negative Power., So he/she cant help about it. We have to enlighten the power of Positivness.
and there are so may ways. the figure 700 signs that an individual hates the boss is very less, if you start counting.. you will find endless number of sign to love with your company, your boss, your seniors
V talk about bad bosses. Thats good .... grt we have started thinking now. But, enlighten us also on how to become a good employee. There are so many posts on this rediff forum - it only means that we read all the news in office at the expense of our companies. Had we spent this time to put in efforts to improve the organization we work it would have been better for both. I can only say one thing - TRUTH ALWAYS (IN ALL WAYS) TRIUMPHS. And so stop all this boss-biting and start working for Our companies ---> Countries.
good article have just been thru such an experience myself, so could identify strongly with it only thing is, the person concerned was not my boss, but my boss's boss any tips on how to identify a boss who will value one's skills and not end up feeling insecure? anyways, good work, way to go, rediff :-)

And what was ur contribution to the company? Just for my info and analysis!!!
One cannot enjoy the work place, if he hates the boss. No doubt, culturally there is a big difference in thinking of a boss and a sub-ordinate, but this can be minimised, if there is acceptability by both on common issues.
