Wasn;t Thomas Friedman the one who wrote the book ' the world is flat' and came up with the Bangalore story to start his cover note.. Surprised that an open minded person like him made such comment..
Those who cannot tolerate Tata's success will definitely do that so. It is not the success because of NANO. Tata is going to take over Ford's Jaguar, Land Rover and Ferrari management. The jealousy starts there and not from Nano. They do not want an Indian to command the management. They think too much of themselves. The cannot tolerate India's growth. Thats why they grumble. The best way is to ignore them and march towards excellence. Congratulations to Tata to produce the world's cheapest car with fully indigenous technology (neither borrowing from Americans, Japanese, Europeans or Koreans). Hats off. India will become the number one powerful nation of the world in another 100 years. Nothing can stop that. Those who grumble let them grumble.
USA has highest carbon footprint in the world, they have the highest oil consumption in the world, and they dont have 1/4th population of India. So they think upon importing NANO from India to help reduce some of there carbon emission as NANO is very fuel efficient.
Mr. USA you see this innovation from India will follow many more, a chain reaction has been started and you better tighten your seat belt!

they dont have single invoations against there name which has been fully developed by them. Saturn V which took amaricans to moon was developed by german engineers captured by them after world war-II. same for other things also

I think u had experince like this they r great for everything but some should have big heart
IN the US, people hate to walk and in some places it is too dangerous to walk because of of gun and knife crimes. Also, Americans love their 4X4 gas guzzlers more than their parents, wife and girlfriends. Why not crush all 4X4's and start using TATA NANO. AMERICAN EGO will not allow them to do so.
We need to slap AMERICANS to let them know that their DOLLAR is soon going to be worth less than their DOLLAR BILL.
Before you and I die, We will see AMERICANS begging at the TIMES SQUARE and WHITE HOUSE.

Let dogs bark, since they cant do that, so they will show their frustration. When dog barks that doesnt have any effect on elephant. We should go ahead!
Regarding pollution, we and whole world knows who is taking the world towards disaster.
I am not entirely sure that the author is entirely right in slamming critics of Nano. Firstly the point that it is being critisized because it is coming from India and not from US. Well cars made in Japan and Korea are very popular here in UK. Hyundai, Kia are amongst the top 5 cars in many categories. Secondly isnt it correct that it is a gas guzzler? There is a growing trend in UK to tax 4 wheel drive cars which are plainly destroying the environment. There is awareness that such cars are a threat and steps are being taken against that.
Lastly I do agree that there may be subtle under currents or resentment because the car was manufactured in a third world country. Maybe there is some truth in that but it is not blooming obvious.
Finally imagine having a cheap car on Indian roads!! Every to dick and harry will end up with a car. Can we not visualise what that will do in an already congested metropolitian city like say delhi, mumbai. Its unthinkable.
Cant we just not think of ways to improve the public transport system? instead.

First, we should calculate pollution in terms of CO2 per person per KM. Nano will be clear winner.
Second, most of the journalists and columnists (from US and whole world in general) are chicken heads with loud mouths they just don't understand maths, otherwise they would have ended up being engineers and scientists and not journalists. So I stop listening to them as son as they stop reporting and start imposing their stupid opinions on us.
Third, why are we so elitists by saying only rich can pollute environment. Why do we think that we get license to pollute environment only if we have more than 3 Lakhs and not 1 Lakh? Who sets this limit?
Forth, yes we should improve public transport system. BTW, current public transport in India including railways, are the biggest source of pollution. Some even on per person per KM.

The market is being divided into between two segments one who are having cars and others who are not. The ones who are having cars have started thinking about enviornment and hell lot of others things, while the ones who are not having are thinking of going to office in rainy days.

It is all nice to criticise the car which brings affordability to the millions of have not and preach public transport. With all the pinching and groping women have to endure in our current public transport system why should they not think of buying this car? This car is as much about price as it is about dignity. Let the public transport come, existing car users migrate to that transport system before we lecturing people on the virtues of the public transport system. Its a shame we want the under privelaged to use something we ourselves wont do.

Perfectly written Gaurav!! The rich wants to drive their city , civic and benz , but do not want the middle class to buy the car , they should travel like cattle in trains so that the road is free for them , such people should be dragged out of their car and locked in the local virar train.
These insufferable yankees think that their two cars a family, big SUVs & hummers, their 80 miles drive to place of work does no pollution because they run these on their big farts with methane.
