PPl should realise that, TATA made nano for the consumers. He opened a new market with this product. He could have made an expensive car with all frills, but who would buy it in India. He is a businessman, and he did what any rational-businessman would do.
Guys.. u have to realise that, this is how the culture-of-innovation starts....slowly & gradually..after all, Rome was not built in a day.
May this launch be an eye opener and may this lead to deluge of innovations in India in all fields, make India self sufficient, independent and follow Dr. Kalam vision 2020

IF THEY CAN MAKE SOME STUPID MOVIES TAX FREE DEPENDING ON THE POLITICAL AGENDA, WHY NOT FOR A GOOD SOCIAL PROJECT LIKE NANO - You know what, we should be ashamed of this. When the govt can cut the tax for a movie why not for a car that's intended for the middle class to grow. This shows the level of thinking of our rulers!!!

I fully agree. The department of Science & Technology,Commerce Ministry as well as Finance Ministry should meet under the Chairmanship of PM Dr Manmohan Singh,& seriously consider ,granting as a special case at least reduced taxes in view of the great impact & facility it is going to give to the Common man .After all the government swears evrything for the Common man. Here is a chance for them to show it by acting on it.It will also show that they would like to award business men who really 'care' for the countrymen. This will send a message to other businessmen too in performing feats unconquered .By reducing taxes, the sales/exports will get multiplied,& finally the Govt is not a loser-but a gainer. So too the businessman! It will be a win win situation! So Governent of India-please think & act on these long term goals!

HE'LL BE BACK Tiger crouches not due to fear but to attack too By this I don't mean he's tiger, what I'm trying to convey is, he ain't hiding. (Even otherwise where he can?). Each of them have their own ideas to be implemented. Then I would ask another question - Where was Ratan Tata hiding when Maruti Launched M800, Zen, Omnie or Esteem?
guys you laughed at me when I said that to me it Tata Nano gives the feeling of a lawn mower which costs around same price here. See what an article in International Herald Tribune says -
"Tata's focus on reducing the weight curbed material costs and also permitted a cheaper engine. People familiar with the car describe a $700 rear-mounted engine built by the German company Bosch, measuring 600 to 660 cubic centimeters, with a horsepower in the range of 30 to 35 - no more powerful than some commercial lawn mowers."

Dude what else do you expect in a 1L car. Why dont you invent something thats better. Ok let it be a lawn mover but Indians will love this Lawn mover. Tell my why companies like Ford and Renault are now clamouring to build this Lawn mover!!! Its not about wether its good or bad/right or wwrong. Its about an innovation that Tata brought about which atleast till yesterday was being ridiculed by thier own compatriots

Dear Friend
Why do you worry what americans are thinking /joking about Nano.
The Nano is designed keeping indian middle class family in mind. If this car's on road performance is meeting the min reqd expectations it will be a hit, lakhs & lakhs of them will be consumed by indians.
Let us be proud that an indian company has showed the world what a japanease or an american company had thought as "not possible"
This has changed the perception of the world about indian management / manufacturing epertise. May be some of the so called multinational companies are feeling insecure about the "New order" emerging from India.
Heart felt congratulations to Mr. Tata & his team. You have made us all indians proud.

Sajansajan,
I think u r missing the point here. The Nano car has been built not to compete with the world-class cars. It is more of a technological and management innovation which caters to the need of the common, middle class Indian citizens. If the matter is of comparison (like a car to a lawn mower), I'm sure there are various Indian technology and innovation (some informed friends may pls help me out here) which is not only world class, but of even superior quality than many developed countries. (I guess the Delhi Metro is one such example, or the Konkan Railways, or the Reliance Industries and their refinieries).
As T.P.Bhatt (above) has correctly mentioned, these people have to react. And what better way than to criticise something that you cannot achieve urself !!
It's these moments when Indians world over find another reason to feel proud and can hold their head high.

This should be a bigger lawn mower than the M800. On any day this is lot better than the M800. From the performance perspective M800 is 37BHP whereas nano is 34BHP what big difference.

When somone's monopoly is challenged they are bound to react with contempt
Bal Thackeray WAS one of my favourite politicians. The WAS in my sentence replaced a very strong IS after i heard that he was backing the accused of the MM case..... I am disappointed.... Is this the same Bal Thackeray who is considered the messiah of the public... A brother to all the women out there........SAD Never thought that such a person would do something so cheap to hog the limelight..... I am sure he would'nt have done that if it were his daughter or daughter in law in the victims shoes...... Never believe an Indian politician.... and lastly sorry to post in the wrong section....expected rediff to come up with the article......but seems like rediff is busy with Deepika starring in Rajini's next movie

Thats not joke. I am supporting muslim brothers. Here are my additional demands: If government doesnt ban Nano, here will be commies additional demands - (1) Nano should be made available in green color (2) No interest ever for Nano for Muslims (3) Subsidies for Muslims for attaching a trailer with Nano to help carry the family (4) Green nano should be able to cross red traffic lights (5) No checking of Green Nanos on any check points
