I am surprised to hear such kind of generic comments from Rajeev Bajaj. If he (at this age and with so many yrs of exp and that too in 2 wheeler segment) can think in these lines. Then Tatas think tank with twice as age and quiet a decent proven exposure in 4 wheeler segment, would not have thought in the same lines. And yet they are launching with small car at such affordable price tag... Comments look more so kiddish after Bajaj showing their small in Delhi's auto expo this week.
If every loser comes onto the road with his 1-lakh 4-wheeler(mind you that's surely not a CAR),will there be any space left for my Skoda Octavia ?? where will I drive that ?

Cars are build to help people commute. It is not a luxory to drive big fat cars just for fun on the road and burn precious oil. Have some social responsibility.

Where will you commute in these cities ?? no space left for my Skoda Octvia. All losers will be coming onto the road now with thier cheap 4-wheelers.
if cars are not for luxury, then people would have stopped buying cars beyond 4-5 lakhs.

I presume it is brought by your own money and not your pop's money. Had you earned it then you would have not had this nausea feeling for others driving on the roads.
MIND U IN INDIA EVERYONE IS FREE TO OWN WHAT ONE LIKES.

All the luxury cars must be taxed heavily as these occupy more of the road. use more of the precious oil. when 4 can travel only one travels in it and waste the national resource like oil without putting the brain. small cars will consume less and hence support this cause rather than saying i dont have space to run my car.

since you ride a skoda I presume your mobile too must be costing around a lakh rupees.today a bhajiwala, a labourer or a pan wala also owns a mobile from 700rupees to 70000rupees.HAS YOUR CELLPHONE NETWORK JAMMED???????
for a car not going to be assembled in a plant, but at the dealership.it could end up falling apart depending on who built it.tata cars are really terrible when i comes to quality thats why tata s deal with rover fell out
RE:Intresting
by shashank oak on Jan 10, 2008 10:10 AM Permalink
mr bala deal with rover fell off because of inferiority complex. Indian owning a european company. Baat hazam nahi hui. they are worried if every one becomes a tata then entire ownership of the world inc would be in India.
Please note the UNIONS OF THE COMPANY HAVE GIVEN A GREEN SIGNAL ONLY TO THE TATAS LIKE THE CORUS DEAL. OK???????
May be it is kick start or by hand like auto. Look TATA can make railway engines , truck , tractors and all huge vehicles like earth mover and all But not small car , TATA has same engineer makeing railway engine and car. so u know what ur buying
With the introduction of the 1.0 Lac car, no doubt it will surely hit the sales of all the Bajaj-so-called low cost- high maintenance products.
It is a matter of pride that an INDIAN company is able to achive such a this feat to meet the apsirations of the common middle-class Indian citizen to own a car.
Mr. Bajaj should take a leaf out the TATA's achievement instead of placing comments on its techno-commercial feasibility prior to its launch.
what do you think the value of Rs 1 lakh will be in 5 years? There are various factors(inflation, etc) drive the value of the money. I doubt it will remain Rs 1 lakh for ever.
I think whole world kept its finger crossed to see the much awaited Tata Car. They are going to display today at Auto Expo. The car is so hit before its release even people curious about its looks. But wait for 1 hour you might see it. All newspapers,Tv Channels already discussing it from yesterday. You never know whole TV channels might show it contiunously on TV. It is as good as a Amitabh Movie waiting to relese on this day during 80's
I was reading the Specs for this 1 lakh car & the engine capacity etc looks quite comparable to a Maruti 800 (like 750cc Engine, Milage of 26kmpl etc.) ... I am quite amazed that TATA is able to offer this kind of a car at Rs 1 Lakh. Trust me, if there is no "Hidden Cost" or "Caveat like Conditions apply" factor in this car... It will rock the Indian Auto industry.
The comment from Bajaj is obvious... If this car is a Success, it will Kill the market for Bikes & 3 wheelers... which is the only segment where Bajaj operates!
The Bajaj Bosses are already getting sleepless nights! I await to see this 1 lakh car & would surely want to buy one, it is what Tata claims it to be!

How did you read it before it was launched. The mails doing the round are just guess work. And the engine on the tata car is 600cc and not 750cc (this info was released to the media by tata's).

accordong to times of india its 650 cc. i think its enough for 4 people ride (as we easily ride 3 people on 97 cc hero-honda).
