This is the best way for local to any level politician to ' siphon off ' Govt funds.....What is the Accountability....?????? Who will be the beneficiaries of THIS Write Off....?????? Are the Rich Farmers also going to be part of the Scheme..?????????( which unoffically means that the main beneficiary WILL BE THE POLITICIANS since they are the BIGGEST LANDLORDS...!!!!!) WHY NOT SUCH WRITE OFFS FOR SSI INDUSTRIALISTS.??????
WOW.... what a board, I applauded the move taken by the government and critisides (without a single blashphemous word) the WTO for its double standards towards the farmers of India and someone reported my message for abuse and the moderator was loyal enough to the WTO to remove my post..... no wonder we are remaining as a third world even with immense potentials within us, today I have decided not to visit rediff anymore.
It is high time that Indian Govt collect vital information about farmers. Writing of farmers loan is a good move, but many rich farmers will fall in the same category. The drive must be to help poor farmers who are struggling to live their day to day life.
This is high time we need some data on farmers to give proper compensation for them based on their financial status. A Blank cheque for every one is not a good solution.
This is again a political gimmick of Pseudo UPA Govt. People must not fall for this. If this relief should have been give 2 years before, we could have saved many farmers life.
We must throw these UPA GOONS out of power in next general election.

Agriculture should have been brought under tax net. Many are keeping the land idle to sell at higher price to real estate developer even in the remote place where that kind of development will take place after 5 to 10 years. Not only that many farmers are less educated in forming and they produce nothing big so lands are not properly utilised. So the land owner should be based on the land passion. For example setting target like Rs 20,000 per acre minimum and if one has 10 acres, their total income should have been 2,00,000 Lak; tax should for 2,00,000lak. In net result, who ever is incapable of doing farming efficiently will leave the business. So it will lead to collective corporate farming. . But initially years there may more suicide and it may be neglected (I don%u2019t think any government is worried about the people). So India will have record break suicides in farmers. This may be the best way to increase the agriculture production

I am glad too but what is long term solution to this issue.Have the govt addressed the core issue of why farmers are dying ..no.So this thing of sucidal deaths of farmers will keep on going as long as right soln is not found.
Very happy to that the farmers are getting help. But i still feel this is not the right solution anytime we have any major issue we start giving soaps instead of tackling the problem at the grassroots level.Waiver, quota, free something will make thses guys take things for granted Instead the government should come up with some solutions. For example most of the farmers run into debt becuase of inconsitent monsoon so do something for the water which they need or natural calamities which lead to crops getting destroyed for this the government can start small industries in the villages something to alleviate thier pain so that they earn and not lose life or expect freebies.

Dude I thought of having a good debate on the WTO issue and its effect on our farmers but going by the "CLEANLINESS OF YOUR LANGUAGE" in your previous comment I think you are not worth enough for me to debate with.

They'll take it for granted??..... do you even know the kind of subsides the Indian farmers gets is PEANUTS compared to the subsidees an American Farmer or any other developed country farmer gets.... Farmers represent the majority of the population of our Country and unless they become economically strong there's no way we can become a developed country..... I'm so glad the government made this move.

They do mass production not like here just cultivating 4 or 5 acres. there just 2 or 3 person will cultivate 100 acres. here if you try to give that kind of subsidy many influence person will eat. there won't be accountability. best soulution may be incresing the minimum support price for the corps and ensuring that that reaches the farmers

The decision taken here by the government is for the benifit of the poor and needy farmers, there should be more such schemes to waiver off the dept of those who are struggling for two square meals a day.

How do you expect the farmers to become economically strong..keep giving freebies everytime they have some issues.Solution to make them economically viable is the need of the hour not giving freebies.Dont get me wrong i support this move.Hope it is one time and not everytime election comes near.
This is very good move by the FM. The rich/middle class in India enjoy all kinds of subsidies (on fuels govt. schools/engineering colleges including IIT/IIMs, housing schemes etc.)
It is time that the govt thought about the farmers too !
