Budget
by ABK on Mar 01, 2008 12:12 AM  Permalink

I think FM has given benefit to salaried and middle class people which constitute large number of workforce. Even then people will invest because now awareness has been created due to media

due to tax benefit, people having income less than 5 lacs will not invest or less investment in tax saving bonds or mutual funds. There will be less money flo in market. those who have already invested much amount in equity have chances of getting less returns....

Government of Delhi has been holding up the allotment of flats of CGHS Scheme for a long long time. I would like the Chief Minister and her allies in this crime to be brought to books.

ha ha .. i dont think so .. think it's an eyewash..inflation and petroleum will negate all the seemingly positive points. for the coming years we will pay for the massive loan waiver scheme doled out in the name of 'farmers' .. think VOTES

wow..i guess you would have been happier without any wiaver...inflation and petro price rise makes it an even more valid reason. inflation has been over the last year around 4 percent and the gains in the form of IT exemption are much better. please let me know where the eyewash comes in now. some ppl just cant think on their own. somebody seomwhere kept harping 'eyewass' and anna here took it up like a warcry. and so whats wrong in thinking votes. has other governments come to power on teh merit of winning more number of snake and ladder games instead of votes??

How important is budget to Indians...!!
by George on Feb 29, 2008 11:49 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Here I as an Indian is clearly amused, one could find a clear apathy for all economic matters among the bloggers. Since the communal hate mongers and other hate groups do not have enough intellect to comprehend much of the real impact of the budget and how the future of India is shaped because of that, there is hardly any views, spirited arguments, vitriolic being poured out in the blogs.

Kinly note that there is barely page of comments on the blog for budget matters which actually shapes and effects the real citizens of India. But just note the number of pages of blog filled in by for any communal issues, political hate agendas (at least 10 to 15 pages of blogs filled with arguments, denials, rhetoric and filthy abuses etc) This shows what actually moves indians, where our interests should be, but what we take interest in. Let there be more debate on the budget...Lets us shape our future better!!

Rather than crying foul over other tpics being aginst christian missionaries....India is awakening and know ur plot to harvest our souls living in darkness....Educated Indians understand the Multi - TRILLION $ business run by missionaries in the name of healing and THEY DONT EVEN PAY THEIR TAXES(SALARIES EARNED BY DOING CONVERSIONS- RS 30000 PER HINDU FAMILY).... Tell padrees, pastors, brother and sisters to pay TAXES.

India, as a country of largely very poor people, has very little to do with matters of money. Moreover, budget is not going to change lives of ordinary poor Indians in any significant manner. So, what to discuss about budget?

Aon...Are you saying then that what we discuss here on sleaze, crime, regionlaism, language, etc., have the potential to change the economic profile of the country? Is it because we are rich that we discuss about cricket, personalities and other things in details, but we are 'poor' when it comes to talking abt budget? Let us focus on the educated folks who write on these blogs here and feel pity that they have not given budget a thought! George has a point here, and I agree with him. Rediff blog is just timepass for most!

union budget
by vijaya vittal on Feb 29, 2008 11:49 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

As expected the FM has presented populist and elction year budget. The FM has been stressing the need for removal of subsidies on LPG,fertilisers, kerosene in the interest of our great nation. Then why this waiver of loans even for those who can afford to repay the loans...it is alright if the loans are waived for those where crops failed or damaged..but waiving off in just one go is repetion of 1990 Devilal maafi...which has pushed the already weak commercial banks to dust bins. The FM wants the merger of Nationalised banks to become BIG and BIGGER as in the case of West...but has he given a thought to where this maafi of farmer loans would lead the banks? Who is to bell the cat?IMF??????no....then...

It has been the case ..sadly budget is not driven by ideas like development and welfare.
Its the political equations that dictate the patterns. as is always the case, the weakest are exploited the most.. read salaried class.. . the income goes to corrupt politicos, sleeping babus and scams.

Afterthoughts
by yeda anna on Feb 29, 2008 11:39 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

salaried people have nothing to celebrate .. given the inflation, uncalled taxation on IT industry , rising rupee and petroleum prices.
A maasive chunk is ripped off earnings of working class to pay for inefficient government workers and corrupt poiticians.
a vast majority of businessmen get away and will continue with murder as far as taxation is concerned.
TDS at such rates in a scenario like this is gross injustice to the salaried class.

investments..

How investments of upto 1.5 lacs (Insurance, loan etc) will be counted. Suppose taxable income is around 8 lacs, and there is investment of 1.5 lacs plus. How much will be the tax.

RE:investments..

deduct 1 lac investment from 8 lac income. 7 lakh net. so tax is 40000 (for income upto 5 lakh) 21000 (for the balance 2 lakh)= 61000.

only 1 lac will be taken as investment for the tax. If your taxable income is 8 lacs, you will have to pay tax on 7 lacs.
