The Land near railway tracks
by SUDHIR NAIK on Feb 26, 2008 02:54 PM  Permalink

Respected Lalooji.
The land near railway tracks in Mumbai Suburbs is given on lease basis or rent basis to citizens for cultivating vegetables. All these people are using waste water which is also contaminated with industrial waste water which contains hazardous elements which are harmful to human bodies. This practice of using waste harmful water should be discontinued immediately . If the same cultivation is to be continued then they should be directed to use fresh water and also the Railway Authorities should keep check so that they are not using harmful water for cultivation.

Long way to go!
by Priyan Sarma on Feb 26, 2008 02:54 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

Does record profits mean anything to common man with:

Poor on time performance, all pervasive smell of urine in stations, with barely few seats to sit (most time occupied by sleeping beggars), unkept toilets, poor lighting or sub-standard restaurant facilities. Creaking archaic design coaches with roaches, grime, dirt, unusable toilets and unpalatable catering food.............long way to go dear Lalu!

Where has Rs 17000Crore gone
by Mahesh B on Feb 26, 2008 02:53 PM  Permalink

Laluji is mum on the "Rail Suraksha Fund" accred by collecting Re 1/- per ticket. This itself should account for Atleast 17K Crores.Where is this money?
Last year itself experts have intimated that Railway is just playing with figures. In usual case 33% of revenue for modernisartion and maintenance of its rolling stock. Last few years it has been cut to 12% and balance 21% is added to Profit. This is only jugglary of figures. If Railways do not soend the required amount for maintaining the coaches, engines, lines etc. Non maintenance and non upgradation means poor safety and security threats.
At the first look of this budjet also it seems he continues with the same mathematical formula.

Any day a cut in fare is always welcome.

Disappointed!!
by Bhupesh Juneja on Feb 26, 2008 02:52 PM  Permalink  | Hide replies

No effort to modernisation the railways which are standing still while rest of the country is progressing. When you travel by Rajdhani today or when you travelled 10 years ago, is there any difference? Yes, it was better then. Besides no emphasis on safety. Small accidents across phataks have become order of the day. A fare reduction of 3 - 7% does not take you any where. On the contrary huge cash reserves that the Railways have should be used to bring Indian Railways closer to the railways of the developed world.

I support it as a disappointment.... but still a reduction of 3-7% means a lot for poor people.
Also i presume that with the reduction of ticket fares, pantry charges will go up. So it would be the same.Lalu Sir please look out for Pantry charges!!!
